I have always wondered if it is a good idea or not. I am working on a dagger and have wondered if there would be any value in it being able to be completely dissembled. Of course it will show how tight all the tolerances are and how good the fit and finish is but what do you think. i personally think it would be very cool but is it practical.

Very easily done. Stick tang properly fitted, with a threaded tang/pommel. Unscrew the pommel, and slide off handle and guard.
Or you can use a full tang and screw the scales on.

I'm doing a stick tang and have the handle fited to the handle. The I ubnder stand the process but will a customer care that he can take the knife apart. now this knife is not a using knife but more of a show knife. on a using knife i would say maybe not but a show knife would be cool to take apart.

Nothing wrong with a take-down at all! I'm just about done fitting up my first take-down knife right now.

Click here for a quick google search of bladeforums looking for "take down". You'll find a bunch of stuff. ;)

Even knowing that a fancy katana will only be a show piece, and knowing that I could make a great sword with modern resins in the handle that would make take-down unnecessary, I would not do it.
Some knives/swords are meant to be take-dowm....and that is how they should be made.
