Hey everyone! I work for Mountain High Outfitters, which is a Southeast region outdoor store. We sell knives, among other things. Recently, on July 13, a guy came in and stole a BM Infidel OTF, a BM Mini Infidel OTF, and two Microtech OTFs (Troodon D/E OTF, Ultratec S/E OTF). This amounted to nearly $1,800 worth of merchandise. They were stolen from our Cahaba Village store in Birmingham, AL. If anyone hears of a guy trying to sell such knives, or someone trying to show them off, please let me know, or you can call our store at 205-970-3300. I also have a picture of the guy taken off of our security footage, which I'll post if the moderators don't mind. He looks to be anywhere from 22 to 32 years of age, with dark facial hair, maybe 5'10" 150-160lbs, wearing ALL Patagonia stuff. He was wearing a camo Patagonia hat, and a faded pinkish Patagonia t-shirt. I hope this thread is ok to post. I'm not trying to advertise our stores. I just really want to catch this guy.

If I need to remove the store name to make this thread acceptable, I will do so, just please let me know.

Hey man I frequent your competitors store in Vestavia hills , but still we are in this together . Shoot me an email and I'll get the pic oUT to Randy at the competitor and have them on the lookout . I'm in Gadsden myself but I'll be on the lookout for sure .

How did he have access to all those knives at once though ?

I don't blame you for going to the competitor (I know which one you mean). They sell WAAAYYY more knives than we do, and have much better prices than we do. We have a case back in our climbing gear department with our knives. It stays locked, but one of our employees was showing the thief the knives, then when he was done, he went to help someone else, and left the keys in the case. Not good, but you can't blame him for someone else's dishonesty. I'll send you the picture. I'd appreciate you getting it to our friends across town.

I was just curious as to how je got them your right no excuse for it. Honesty the store I go to is the only one I knew of . I'd bet money those knives are at a pawn shop now ,maybe they tried to sell them to the dealer I know though .

Also not sure if he still works their but their is a Jefferson County deputy that works part time at the other dealer maybe he's still there ,he's a friend but it's been awhile since we spoke.

Yes, the police were called, and given the picture we got from our security cameras. I'll try to post it here today. A police report was made. I believe the Microtechs do have serial numbers, however, I don't think my company wrote them down. I would assume we can get them from Microtech. If I can get them, I'll post them here as well.

Here is the sack of crap. Sorry the pictures aren't better. It's the best shot we could find of his face. Apparently our cameras are garbage. Also, we realized the day after it happened that they were stolen, checked the camera footage, and saw him stealing them. Luckily, our manager took this screen shot with his phone. He tried to save the footage to the computer, but it wouldn't let him. We tried calling our company's tech guy and all. No luck. Six days later, when the police finally came to collect the footage, we went back into the system only to realize that the system only saves footage for five days. So, this picture is all we have of the guy. No good. At least we have this.

Op I never got your email , you need to email me right away ,I may have a name for you that's a blurry pic but still I know a name you can foward and let Leo look it up and see what they think.

If that's the guy i think it is he's about 29 from Irondale . If he has a tat on forearm I can Id the guy I can't tell if he has the tattoo or not though. I've met the guy at Marks before on a couple of occasions ...

Also yes micro tech keeps track of their numbers Ive bought a few from Marks (sorry but it doesn't matter really ) anyway on one I got the wrong box and they actually called me and asked me to bring that box back because it would screw with their inventory .a call to micro tech then a call to the other pawn shops in the area , I'm trying to get a hold of Randy at marks because he's the guy i deal with 100% of the time , and I trust the man with my daughter if that tells you anything . I'll get his advice and forward it to yall

I feel for you, I really do. This weekend I took my wife to her "Crop Night" with her scrapbooking friends 200 miles away in freaking Allen, TX. After walking her in and making the rounds and saying hello to everyone, I came out and noticed my car door and glove box had been opened. The thief walked with 2 of my CQC-15's and possibly more (I'm not sure), but left a GoRuck GR1 with my $2,000+ MacBook Pro inside it, 3 checkbooks and a roll of Silver Eagles in the console. Go figure.

The probability of being robbed in the area that we were in is tantamount to winning the Lotto or being struck by lightning, and it had to be me. If you've ever been to Allen, you know what I mean.

All the same, I hope you get your property back.

Allen is growing so fast that there are all types that now live there, not the quiet little country town anymore, but it is weird that all they took was the knives. Were they out on the seat? They probably did not know what was in that green topped tube but I am surprised they did not take the bag.

I had my car broken into years ago and they purposely left my checkbook out on the seat...it surprised me but the police said they tend to get caught when passing bad checks, since it is much harder now than it used to be, and they get a stiffer sentence when/if caught.

They were in the middle console, which has two levels; a removal top level and a space below. The knives were the first thing you'd see if you opened it up, I doubt they saw the Eagles. As for the bag, thank God they let it be or maybe just didn't see it. The Metroplex is growing at an unbelievable pace, but its still hard to imagine getting robbed in Allen, a place where every neighborhood is its own walled community, every other person is a computer programmer and hardly anyone comes outside after 8PM.
