Hey guys,

I've got me a fledgling Spyderco collection and am wanting to add to it. Looking for suggestions on a knife(s) to add to the collection.

These are the knives I already own

Sypderco Dragonfly 2 (ZDP-189)
Spyderco Delica 4 (VG-10)
Spyderco Endura 4) (VG-10)

All my current knives have (I believe) the frn handle.

I work in an office environment so it can't have an extremely "scary" blade to the sheep I work with. I typically carry the Delica and/or Dragonfly.

I use my knives to open boxes (at the office) and clean game animals (rabbit, squirrel, turkey, hogs, whitetail)

I am smitten with the Delica 4 - but it's not offered (from what I can discern) in different blade materials and/or handles. Looking to add to the collection and would prefer to keep the blade length similar to the Delica 4.

Advice is appreciated.

Guys,
Unless I'm missing something I already own the Delica (see list of knives that I own above), I'm looking for something similar hopefully with different blades and/or handle material.

As an up and coming Spyderco collector I think you should look into a Paramilitary 2. It's a must have! You would probably really like the Centofonte 3 and the Caly or Sage series knives, they compare well with your Delica, but much finer.

I recommend downloading the spyderco magazine and looking there and asking questions about blades that tickle you fancy. Having said that, do you have a price limit? There are ALOT of blades that one could recommend to a new collector.

How about some good old made in Golden Co goodness?
Native 5 FRN S35vn.
Fits right in your criteria.

Both the Delica and the Endura are available in ZDP-189, as well as the Manbug and Ladybug
I have all four of them

Where is this available for download?

Yeah a Native 5 in FRN would definitely fit in with the knives you already own. If you want something a little different definitely give the PM2 a go. It is my favourite knife I own.

Concerning the Paramilitary the Black G10 or digital camo G10?

Also, if you were going to get two of the four mentioned...which ones would you go with?

Also,

What blade material would y'all recommend for a "normal" office knife (i.e., just a handy knife to own) and a game cleaning knife blade?

Office knife blade material? Anything really if its just envelopes and tape cutting. There is a good selection of "gentlemanly" folders out there in a variety of steels. The sky is the limit. When it comes to office knives, that is when beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Centofante 3 (VG10) or a pretty Native 5 (s35vn, some sprints if you want it in other steels) come to mind.

Game cleaning knife? If its small game, I honestly use a Dragonfly. For larger game, I use a fixed blade but if I had to use a folder I would probably use a Stretch. Pacific Salt for fish.

Thanks for the questions! This is fun.

If your digging the Delica Id say stay in that blade size, I stay happier if I stick to a size I prefer. In that size I like these in this order.

Sage= tons of choices in scales and locks (#1 for me).
Native= really strong click to the lock back, It locks up harder than the Endura and Delica, some prefer that and some dont.
Caly = Just a sweet knife and with nice jimping at the neck of the blade.

There are certainly others close to this size but these are the ones I enjoy most.

Another vote for the Sage. The Sage II with the titanium is very different feeling from the FRN and looks elegant too. It's a nice size between the Delica and Endura. Will be a most acceptable knife in the office world and a great working knife when you need it to be that you will find will clean easier than the lock backs you own.

I'd get the Delica 4 in combo edge VG-10, full flat ground ZDP or best yet a discontinued ZDP and Spyderedge (they're kind of hard to find though).

If you go with the camo PM2 you get a one of a kind camo pattern, and I love the DLC coating on the black blades. If I could have 2 of the ones I mentioned I would own a PM2 and a Caly 3.5. Either will conquer any office task with ease and very minimal maintenance would keep them razor sharp and smooth. The Caly is probably better suited to cleaning game, blade wise, and its a bit easier to keep clean because it has less nooks and crannies for debris to accumulate. For pure office work I would go Centofonte 3. It's a true gentleman's folded. Very sleek and light weight with excellent blade geometry.
