knife to relax with

My old Case 8 dot 6318hp comes out on special days, hell it becomes a special day when it goes in my pocket.I like my Spyderco Caly 3 and when stuff needs cut it is easily out of my pocket and open then just as easily put away after it has cut what needed to be cut.But for whittling a piece of cedar it is not my huckleberry, the old stockman,on the other hand turns something as simple as reducing a piece of wood into shavings into a trip down memory lane.It is more than the sum of its parts.

I have knives stashed all around, so I don't carry a knife if I'm just lounging around the house.

That^^^.
Around the house I wear an old worn out pair of jeans or chinos, and have gotten really, Really used to empty pockets; much lighter and slimmer feeling, more relaxed.

Kitchen/living room table has a dedicated knife for utility(Sabre serpentine jack that was my Dads knife for the same place), and one for eating(Case Cheetah). The den has a similar set, one for food(Vic black alox Pioneer), one for utility(Colonial baby toothpick).

This time of year(December/Christmas), I have a Case red Christmas tree bone mid folding hunter that I use around the house, Sometimes I pocket it, sometimes it stays in the living room... This year its been residing there in the living room all the time.

If I'm headed to the shop(basement) to work on something or even just loaf, I "EDC-up"; load everything I would for out of house adventures, so it would be that days chosen knife..

nice!

If I'm just relaxing around the house I'll have an opinel #7 in the pocket of my flannels, sweats or shorts.

If I have my pants on, I have a knife in my pocket...something I learned from my Grandpa and my Dad. I guess I harken back to an earlier generation in that way. Now I have my GEC Northfield antique yellow jugged-bone handled #77 Washington Jack in my pocket.

Probably this one, as it gets carried every day anyway.

But I also carry this one around as well.

Perfect for horsing around, tinkering, whittling, beer drinking, coon-fingering.

Not sure I need want to know,,,, But what is Coon-fingering?
:D The fondling of a pocket knife. Ever see a Racoon with an egg? :D

This calls for a visual!

Now, just picture a traditional knife in (y)our hot little hands in place of the egg, and there ya go.

:)

Best regards

For days (or moments) like the OP describes, I typically have something with a cap lifter on board. Sometimes it's a Beer Scout, but more often than not it's my trusty Pioneer. It usually ends up doing a few odd jobs anyway.
