knife under 75 dollars

hmmmmm im the first to ask this. what size are you looking for in your new EDC? what materials? there are a number of options in you price range in a number of sizes and materials. personally i would go with the blur (S30V or SG2), and of course the leek. the JYD2 and Lahar and the Groove (played with one the other day. awsome knife!). can get all of them in you price range.

I really don't want a blade under 2", or more than 4" It will be in my pockets. I am so much of a newbie that I have no idea what type of material I want. I might also get a chive as a office/school EDC. I am thinking of either getting a cyclone or a Junkyard Dog II and probably a chive.

"Junkyard Dog II and probably a chive"...Those are exactly the pair to get..

in that case you have the Scallion in 420 steel. its a good lil knife. for the steel it holds a pretty good edge for awhile. any blur, especially the ones i mentioned. you have the speedbump in, i think it is now 13C26 steel. make sure you get the all aluminum handled one. the cyclone of course.

those are my choices. there are alot more out there that im sure others will mention.

note im also only talking the speedsafe knives.

Get the Mini Mojito for office/school EDC, especially if you can find it in 13C26.
It is an amazing little knife and a great alternative to the Scallion. Don't get me wrong, I like the Scallion too, but the Mini Mojito packs a lot of features like the Stud lock and a safety integrated into the flipper.

Get a regular Blur, your choice of colors & plain/serrated. Try Wally World. Save the rest of the money towards a decent sharpener. Get a Spyderco #204 Sharpmaker - you can keep the regular Blur, and the rest of your 'dull' collection, scarey sharp. I finally did this during the summer - now my drawer of butter knives/paper weights is shrinking - my older Blurs, Leek, & Scallion are already sharpened... It halted my SG2/S30V Blur purchase!

OK without any regard for the use of the knife, going by your comments on blade size, Cyclone and Scallion. Both are SpeedSafe, and both can be had for just a few dollars more than your budget.

If you go on-line to order, whatever you do, don't buy from The Blade Shop. Very very bad experiences with them all over these boards.

Look at the Blur SG2. It's an absolutely superb knife. The blade steel is the quality that really sets it apart for me. Takes and holds an edge like a razor. Easy to sharpen and maintain. Assisted opening is very nice (no safety as desired). At the top end of your budget but if you purchase it from the "pharmacy", then you should be in good shape.

Good luck!

+1
if you want Kershaw, I would go with this one. Nice knife, great steel. It goes for little more at dealers, but I saw them NIB under $60 on the auctions.

So I am going to get the cyclone. It was a very tough decision. But it seemed that the jyd2 was pretty mch the same as the cyclone, and I don't really like how the jyd2 looks. I really like how the cyclone looks. So I was wondering, and I know there is a seperate forum for this topic but, what should I do as far as care for the knife. The sharpmaker looks nice but if I am not mistaken it would be even more expensive than the knife itself. I don't have enough of a need to buy that nice of a sharpener. Is there anything else? And what else should I do as far as maintanence and care of the knife? Thank you all very much!

Just keep it clean and keep a check on the lockup. Use the hell out of it, just don't abuse it. Lube it when you think it needs it. They don't need it very often, but when you do just a dab will do. To much and it will only attract dust and other grit and grime. You also have the option of sending it to Kershaw for a tune up. They will clean it, lube it and sharpen it for you..........for free.....and for LIFE. Kershaws CS is the best. I'm sure you'll be very happy with the Cyclone. Make sure you come back after you get it and let us know how well you like it.
