Knife used in Ghost In the Shell SAC

Hi

I recently started to watch Ghost in the Shell SAC Anime.

I noticed the knife used by Major Motoko kusanagi looks familiar, but I can't identify it.

Any other fan of the series knows after what real knife it is modeled?

I remember that episode, but can't say what knife that is modeled after. Maybe something from Dork Ops?

I don't have the second GIG. but I think it is available on DVD on amazon.com



I love everything GitS. That epeisode of my pics (Missing Hearts 1st GiG, along with Affection from the 2nd are my favorites).


I hope I can get a knife like that one, I want it so badly...
 
It looks like a Relentless product. They are awesome semi custom knives.
The knife that Bauto gets taken from him by Kuze in second gig(the best GITS)
looks like a Strider tanto. The Major also buys a awesome sommlier knife by
Laguiole as a gift for her boss in another GITs episode.

What episode is the Relentless knife in?

If you like Gits you will love Black lagoon. Not to many knives but the guns are awesome and very well researched. The exspetznaz head of the russian mob uses one of the coolest handguns ever the Stechin.

Even the guns you barely see are real and appropriate for the character. Revy uses a veitnam era mortar launcher that looks like a shotgun with upside down stock and the Styer subgun with the sights that slide back and forth when fired.
 
Looks like a strider -the guard and flat serrations especially. with some nemoto influence.
 
I have the GITS manga and animation from the beginning movie up to GITS Solid State Society, and the stories have knives everywhere!

Don't recall the OP's knife, but I remember that Batou uses a SAK mechanic (I think), and one member of section nine, Pazu had some sort of scimitar looking folder in a knife fight (according to wikipedia , it was SAC 2nd GIG episode 13), maybe a cold steel vaquero.

Ghost in the Shell is cool, as are other mange by Shirow :cool:

off topic, but in the Appleseed Databook, there is a fixed blade knife (totanium, I think) and a Victorinox Fisherman, which I suspect is Mr. Shirow's favorite model of SAK.

In which episode Batou uses the SAK?
 
Don't recall the episode number, but he was breaking into Motoko's apartment, I think. It was before a cool battle with a power suited guy vs. him and the tachikomas. It was near the end of the laughing man series, I think.

There was a marking on the red SAK very similar to the fisherman model that I believe Masamune Shirow is fond of, so it may not have been a mechanic, but I may be way off on this.

EDIT: By the power of greyskull, er, internet, I think I found the episode. It's number 25 (first season- stand alone complex - episode titled "Barrage")
 
I think that it looks more like an Extreme Ratio

How is the series anyways, I have only read the books, and seen the movie released through Manga about a decade ago.

IMHO the series is much better than the Manga and movies. The series (GitS SAC) takes place before the Major merging with the Puppetmaster.
In the series the Major has a much cooler personality and her past is explored.
 
I stumbled upon this old thread by accident. I am a GITS fan.

The knife definitely looks like a strider or Extrema Ratio.


I have a question for the GiTS fans here too, are there sunglasses that look like what Motoko is wearing in that picture? I want to cosplay her.

This thread is a few days over 2 years old!
My bet is that the sunglasses are gargoyles (brand-wise, at least)
