Knife Virgin

I sure appreciate the help today, and yes I just walked away from it, it's in the clamps now, and from what I understand the hard stuff starts next!

I can tell that there will be more to come, I still got a pile of antlers here

I will have to study up on blade design, what all the steel numbers mean etc, I got a lot of work to do but haven't had this much fun since I gave up building hobby stock dirt track cars.

Doing Great! Love the antler, I wouldnt use my trophies though, I go out in early spring, and walk fence rows and thickets where deer travel to pick up the antlers that fall off each year.

I've got some pics of the trophys, and now this one will be with me every hunt going forward, i've never been a head on the wall guy.

Rock most guys either pin or have a pomell nut on the end. The thing is if the glue fails the pin would hold it or same with a nut.

Oh another thing get some walnut stain and rub your sanded areas it should rebrown and blend nice

:thumbup:Thanks Hellgap (and everyone else)
Just wondering on the finishing?

do I finish it as close to the final shape I want and then use a buffer to get that shine? And if I buff it will the walnut stain take?
had a chance to work on it a little before work today,

Oh is there anything I can do about pinning since I allready glued? Just drill and pin?

Very nice Rock. I have never stained material before so i dont know if the buffer would remove it. When I do handle work I always buff after the final polishing grit is used.

Wondering how long I should leave the stain on, tried 5 min but didnt seem to do much, it is a oil base stain????

Found what I was looking for in archives.
