I'm probably in the wrong place... if so I'm sorry.
I'm interested in having a knife made to my specs... it does not have to be a work of art... I'll try and describe exactly what I want within my own limited knowledge about knife making....
I made a thread yesterday where I was lamenting another year gone by without my grail SD knife being offered by a company that I was thinking should have already made it.. and it got me to thinking... I could wait another year, likely be disappointed again, and still not have the knife I want, or I could see if some of our talented makers here on the forum were interested in attempting the build.
what I want is IMHO perhaps the ultimate SD knife, something you feel safe falling back on when you are forced to leave the CC 9mm in the truck.
Let me get you in the proper mindset to visualize my dream...
Lets start by thinking about the Cold Steel 5.5 inch bladed knives.... Large Espada, Talwar XL, Recon 1 series XLs.... Texas has a 5.5 inch legal blade length on carry knives, and I want every last bit of it.... well... perhaps 1/8th short just so dollar store measuring devices won't read in the Police favor if it ever gets measured.
Now, lets imagine Cold Steel made the Spyderco Civilian....as a 5.5 inch bladed folder.... over sized, over built, tank tough and mean...
5 and 3/8th blade, fully serrated, wickedly hookbilled, wave opening, strong lock ( and I really prefer lockback to frame or liner lock ) G10 handle, pocket clip, and finished " blackout " style
I want the blade slicey... but I also want that hook tip to be strong enough it's not fragile... I do not need it made of any super steel as though it would be an EDC, it would never be used, I carry 2 knives now, 1 is my daily use beater, one is the knife that currently serves in this role....that knife has never cut anything, ever, and I hope it never will...
I'd like to hear from anyone that thinks they would like to take a swing at the build.... and honestly, I have no idea what to expect something like this to cost....
