I've started carrying a Kershaw Offset that weighs in over 8oz. That's just a bit on the high side for me, but really, weight isn't an issue. It's more about bulkiness.

I have several 5-7oz folding knives that get sheath carry, so I've never really had an issue with weight.

I don't purposefully carry the heaviest knife, either. I carry a variety, including several sub-1oz tiny things, like the A. G. Russell pen knife, or Spyderco ladybug, or Spyderco Ti Police necklace knife.

Now, if we're talking overall weight, on any given day I'm usually pretty close to 1lb if you count the sharp stuff on my keychain as well.:D;)

I've not had too much experience with many different ranges, but my preference does go towards heftier. I EDC a Manix 2, and thats 5 and 3/8 oz and that seems fine to me, doesn't feel heavy at all. I could probably deal with carrying plenty heavier. I also carry an HDS/RaLights 140C Clicky which is on the heftier side for lights, so I have no qualms about weight of gear.

At 3.82 oz my full size Ritttergrip is the perfect weight for me. I had a CRKT
Crawford Kasper once that was so heavy I leaned to the right when walking.

I voted 5-8, but as many have said before me, it really depends on the method of carry and how the knife itself carries.

I'd go 8-10 if it was hanging on a harness or vest rig, but that's also about the time I'd be considering a fixed blade for the application.

EDC has tended to be around 4-5 or less per knife for me historically. My current primary EDC is an old Benchmade 722 that tips the scales at exactly 4 oz.

I voted the last one as I dont really care about weight. That being said I don't like huge knives much--just weight isnt the reason why.

I weigh 300 lbs or so (almost 6'8"). I dont care about a few ounces one way or another. If I did, I will burp or pass gas to lose a few ounces.

To answer your question tf8s, I was prying with it.No fault of the striders ,I just took it a little farther than it wanted to go

Can't answer in a vaccuum. Today I am in the office carrying my 2 oz. Boye folder. It is small, flat, and light, but able to handle anything I will need it for here. When I camp, I carry a Benchmade Rukus that weighs, what? 8 oz.? Don't remember, don't care. On other occasions I carry a variety of blades between those extreems.

i carry a rukus on me every day and i dont even notice it. it weighs 7.7oz. so i could definitely deal with more.

Weight isn't a consideration if I'm belt carrying - pocket carry in elastic waist shorts and it'll have to be light enough for the pants to stay up :D

I'm an office worker and carrying over 3oz is just too heavy and awkward for edc in slacks. I have been edc'ing a CF Caly3 for a few weeks but even that is kind of on the heavy side. i have a BM 940 and a Al Mar Eagle ultra on order which i hope will do well for weight. On the weekends in a pair of jeans or utility shorts i carry up to 5-8 oz

I pretty regularly carry folders that are in the 3-5 oz range. I don't think I'd go much heavier than that though.

I am EDCing my Strider SmF CC SW that weighs 5.7oz and I don't even feel it. :)

My Strider SmF RW-1 weighs 6.4oz, hardly notice it's there at all.

Also my ZT 0301 weighs over 8oz and that is fine too, no problems.

Weight doesn't bother me at all.

I have EDCed plenty of blades ranging from 3oz to over 15oz over the years.

I'm carrying my DDR HD Maxx as my primary. It weighs in at almost 10 oz.

Weight doesn't prevent me from carrying a knife, but I tend to go light. One of my usual EDC's is a Benchmade 530, at only 1.8 oz. :)

My EDC folder is 2 ounces, I can't even feel it in my pocket. It depends on th circumstances though. If I was forced to go up against an al-Qaeda cell with just a knife, I would carry something better.

I don't care about weight. Size yes, I gotta be able to carry it without causing mass panic, but weight? Nah.
