Knife while riding bicycle

My preferred riding knife is a Spyderco UKPK Salt. Most of the time while riding, I've got a road biking jersey with three pockets on the back of the jersey, so it stays clipped in one of those pockets. On the odd occasion I'm doing a ride in regular shorts, it sometimes gets clipped in a pocket. Don't usually do that unless it's a short ride as a knife in that position can rub and be uncomfortable.

I strongly prefer a Spyderco Salt, as they stand up to being drenched in sweat for hours on end without any issue.

I used to ride a bike quite a bit. I wore jeans and carried a folding knife clipped to the rear pocket. (Pretty much the same place I always carry a folder with a clip.) Road for years that way. Never lost a knife.

What kind of riding are you doing?
Regular, normal, road riding (but not like road racing) to get to locations near the river. I do go on trails (but not like mountan biking) sometimes at that point, in search of access points to fish.
There's no worry of extreme activity. I was just concerned whether my pedaling action would possibly cause a clipped folder in my pants pocket to come loose and possibly fall off. In which case it would be a pain cause I wouldn't know where I dropped it.

My sport/riding clothes tend to have pockets with zippers, so I will either have whatever knife I am carrying in a zipped pocket or, if it is bigger or heavier, in a bag attached to the bike frame (cheap bags, bought for very little money from ebay or something similar)

^ This would be good to know. And what your main reason/s for carrying while riding are - do you just want to have a small utility blade with you? Are you concerned about self-defense in the places you ride? Are you touring and camping? A little more detail would help.
My fixed blade is in my knapsack. On my back if cool, tied down on a rear rack if too hot.
My Bugout is no self defense against anything. Its something I aways carry when fishing. Cuts line, cleans fish.
Main question is will my clipped bugout pop out of my pants pocket when pedaling.
I think that has been answered here. Thanks.

I clip the knife to the placket of my shirt. I can access the knife with either hand even when I am seated. Here is a more recent picture of the William Henry B-15.View attachment 2138606
Sweet knife man ! I've never heard of that brand before and just did a quick Google search. Damn these expensive knives and my wanting to check them out lol ! I need another knife about like I need a hole in my head 😂

My riding shorts have pockets.
Last fall I started carrying a Spyderco Matriarch right front
There’s an old Delica in my Camelbak too.

Haha thanks for the likes KenHash and GAGL - I have a big old Batavus Dutchie cargo bike that`s good for fields and sand and can shift 400kg - it`s heavy but smooth and comfy.
I also have a 50 watt Dali Katch 2 bluetooth speaker on the handlebars because I like my tunes (ex esoteric Hi-Fi guy in Hong Kong)

For just commuting or bumming around town with regular pants, I will usually grab one with decent spring tension and clip onto my pocket like normal (right front).

For my workout riding in lycra and jersey, I carry a native 5 salt in the right jersey pocket on my back. Usually that still works fine with a hydration pack as well.

These are my cheapie EDC knives I carry whilst riding my bike.
A green Hultafors utility and a cheapie Chinese penknife mini axe haha!
I had itchy feet so went on a night ride.

Tonight I got my tiny Chinese folding E-bike out because I was bored.
It was 10.30 pm but I needed to get out.
I`ve got a cheapie folding Windgoo B3 sit-on electric scooter that is 30 lbs and does 25 mph and has a full speed range of about ten miles.
It`s been under the stairs for months because the battery and brake caliper was knackered; now fixed at last.
Even though it was 2 degrees with windchill I took it for a night blast.

I also put a whacky light on the front so I got noticed and could see where I was going.
It`s a SF2 30 watt LEP White LED Flashlight which is a cheap laser torch.
It has a highly collimated narrow beam that is only 300 lumens but goes for 1/3 of a mile - it`s mad.
The beam throw for a single 21700 lithium battery 6" torch is unreal - it is really bright for 550 metres or over 1800 feet !
Can`t wait for the weather to warm up - I love night rides.
