So I have been searching for a folding knife that can function as a impact weapon first. I'm not looking for Balisongs or knives above $200. I keep finding knives with blunted ends. The knives I find that are pointy always end up being to wide wide when closed like the BM808 or Manix. Does anyone here have any useful suggestion of knives I should check out?

Now the stupid requirements:
No frame locks
No liner locks
No automatics otherwise I would've bought a launch 1
Made in the USA would be preferable

Knives I like that come close to what I'm looking for are the Bedlam , SOG Visonary II

If the Rukus didn't cost like a million $ I would probably go for that.

Look at Benchmade Torrent. I have one and it has the type end you may be looking for. And on the plus side it doesn't look like a scary impact weapon.

Using a knife as an impact weapon is about as bright as shooting to wound. Carry a kubaton or a tactical pen--both of those are dedicated impact weapons, and usually non-lethal and cause limited injury. Pull a knife, and you are pulling a lethal weapon with all the fun legal implications that entails. If you break out the lethal force first, the other guy is now in the self-defense situation and you would have been legally better served by running away. If things are so bad you have to draw a knife, you would be better off drawing a gun. Half measures are kind of silly.

Ruger LCP is my EDC for impact.

Cold Steel AK-47.

Great steel. Great lock. Great ergonomics. Great quality. Great price.

Comes in other colors too.

If you want an impact-weapon, carry a flashlight. We hear stories about people getting stabbed with knives, not blinded with flashlights. I'm not aware of any states with flashlight-laws so go and strap a 3-cell Maglite to your belt.

Labeling your knife as a weapon will only help authorities with enforcing strange knife laws.

Wow. Well said, sir.

Just so you dont feel like the odd man out, I still put the trusty 6D Maglite to good use.

We should bring sexy back toting Mags.

Cold steel ak47 is the ticket. I have carried a mini off and on for years and it is an awesome blade and the nee is very tough. I have very rarely used to pound things but it has opened countless beer bottles for me!!!

Like the two folks above, I vote for the CS AK47.

Heavy hitting beast

Great ergos, not inexpensive, strongest lock in the market, nice steel, excellent DLC coating.

It's sturdy, tough, and for less than $100.

I used the pommel on mine to break ice numerous times, and to bend metal sticks, rods and plates, with great results.

Knives are rarely used blatantly in an attack. Bad people that use knives will hide it, sneak up on you, and stab you. Nine times out of ten you'll never see it coming. Chances are you will not even get to deploy your blade. That is why it's good to have a knife with an effect handle design.

I'm not really interested in discussing using a knife for self defense. I'm just trying to find a knife that meets my simple criteria.

No liner locks
No frame locks
No automatics
Has a somewhat pointy end when closed. That can be used for striking.

Then why was the first thing you said

I don't get what you are looking for suggestions on.

And situational awareness and good running shoes are gonna do you far more good than a knife, which, as you say, you wont be able to deploy in time anyway.

Hate to say it but if you hit someone with a "glass breaker" in the wrong place you may as well have stabbed them, it's still deadly... In my limited opinion a blunt object can be used more effectively as a self defence item, it gives you a more varied range of application of force. YMMV...

Bm 810 with tactical jimping out the wazoo and a glass breaker. Thing is, if you are being snuck up on in an attack and can't deploy your blade how are you going to whip the knife out to smack an unknown attacker

But seriously, the 810 is a fun knife. Love mine.
