Knife Workshop

Congrats to those who have signed up! I can't wait to see the knives come to life!

If you want to get a quick feel as to how your knife will feel in hand, I do the same as Elgin and make a wood copy of it.

I choose to use the larger paint stirrers from Home Depot. They tend to work Very easily, are right around 1/4" thick, and smooth out nicely with some 400 grit sand paper (use 60 or 80 and some files to shape).

Working on my pattern for knife workshop but have a ?,
Assuming a 1/8" blade stock , how far up the blade from the edge will a saber grind be? (1/2 way? 1/3 the way? 2/3 the way?) I realize that it will vary with the primary grind angle chosen, but isn't there a standard angle?

Ok. So I finally had some free time to go to the garage and cut out my pattern from a paint stick. I am really happy with how it fits the hand so I think this design is a go for me. Here are a couple pics.

Thanks guys! Not really sure if I am liking the look of the dip I'm the back. Looks funny but is comfy in hand so I guess that is more important than looks.

Thanks for the info! Can't wait!
