Being my passion is Pennsylvania related pocket knives, I found the Eldred story in this last issue of Knife World extremely interesting. I have lived in that area also and it was well done. My only regret is that after all these years I still don't own a Platt's knife. I missed an ebay auction for an Eldred Cutlery that stills haunts me to this day. :( If anyone is interested in talking more about this subject please contact me at

Thanks folks

Just read that over the weekend. It was a very well done article.

Figured you would like it too! :D

Thought of you when I read the article. Had to come 'find' you here on the forums to make sure you saw it.

I think Knife World is the best. It's the only knife mag I subscribe to.

To be a true old knife collector you have to appreciate history. I loved the old photos and stories of inside events. To think that I have to find a Smithport, Eldred, Warren, knives just makes me look in old boxes even closer. These old companies have had a great impact on the hobby. Thanks for letting me speak my piece.

As a collector I enjoy the paths of others as they build their knowledge almost as much as my own.

My favorite weekend of the year is coming up, and much of my enjoyment will come from knives my friends will find at Blade. As an example, if you have ever seen Danbo at a show, you already know what I am talking about.

One of these days I expect to see an article with your name on it.

Interesting that you make that comment about an article. I do enjoy writing and have done several for construction mags and also dog show related. My other hobby. I have wanted to do a compliation of stories dealing with the NW Pennsylvania knive business. You may have just inspired me to attempt that project. Thank you for your friendship. Knife people tend to be very good people I have found.
