Do you have a knife you can't get rid of?

Either someone gave you something extremely bad and you can't get rid of it out of respect for them.

Or you bought something expensive, don't like it and now you can't sell it.

I'm interested to hear those stories :)

I have one that I will never ever get rid of, because it is special to me. It’s just a cheap Kershaw Asset, that got traded back and forth between me and my dad and back to me.
Originally it was a bead blasted finish. But when he owned it he polished it to a beautiful custom satin, almost black chrome finish. It’s probably the only knife with any sentimental value and I’ll have it till the day I die.

There's a vintage Bob Terzoula CRKT BT70 that I've tried to sell a couple of times but no one has been willing to pay what I consider a fair price for it.

A few guys said they really wanted one but weren't willing to pay the price for it. Close but no cigar. I have no problem keeping it. ;)

Anyone is welcome to PM me if interested.

I have no problem throwing something away. That's why I tell family that if they want to give me a present, give me XXL white pocket t-shirts. I will not throw them away!

There is one knife in my collection that I can't bring myself to get rid of.

It's nothing glamorous at all. Just a simple, Pakistan made Buck 110 knockoff, just like countless millions of others, the only thing unique about it being its blue scales.

But it belonged to a person who was special to the family whose long since passed away, and was practically a grandfather to me. He gave it to me at a young age, and I've held onto it ever since.

Nothing that I haven't been able to sell or give away but I have taken a serious bath on several knives. I lost almost $500 on a custom turpin once. Still hurts but glad its gone. The money i did get from it was put to good use.

I can’t pick one, but these will never leave my collection.

A W49 that was passed to me by the family after a close friend lost his battle with cancer.
My deceased brother’s 110
My father’s Western lockback he carried daily for many years until he passed.
The custom shop Mini CR my lovely wife bought me
A Lessard modded 2 layer
And the Pioneer X Spikediesel put together for my grandson when he gets old enough for his first pocket knife. Orange G10 isn’t necessarily “cool”, but I chose it hoping he won’t set it down and lose it. lol

Giantmouse Clyde for me. When I got it I had thought it was a bigger knife based on the pictures and specs. That and the grind wasn't quite as thin as I would prefer. As a result I tried to thin out the grind to make the knife cut a bit better which resulted in a VERY wide bevel essentially destroying any kind of resale value. Rather than take a bath on it I will probably just continue to keep it around.

All of the knives that are on my "Never Sell" List are those gifted to me by my wife or family for a special occasion, or that were gifted by friends here on Bladeforums or in person. I'll need to try to gather them up later and take a pic. Well, those I can remember specifically at this point!

Oh Crap! …I forgot about the 2018 knife you gifted me…that one also will never be sold.

Truth be told, it didn't even register, my friend! 🤣 🤣 I'm still trying to think off the top of my head of all the knives I've got at current, that meet the above criteria. Criminy, I've been collecting knives for a long time. 🤦‍♂️

I have a ZT0561 that I tried to sell for over a year or maybe two (not on bladeforums), but no interest at my asking price.

I have a couple of mid-techs that I used (and it shows it). I never thought I would even consider selling them which is why I used the heck out of them, but when I was unemployed and needed money, I couldn't sell them in their condition for enough to make it worth it.

I have a couple of pew-pew devices that no one can make work, so I won't sell them to anyone (unless they want to buy knowing they don't work).
