i woulld bring my ka bar becker bk9. i did modify mine with a front finger choil to do finer tasks. it is heavy but in my opinion it is worth it. the original sheath( i now have a kydex sheatha) is great as well.

Only ONE knife?!?!? hope not! I would want a small, medium, large knife at least! If I had to choose just one, I guess it would be the Survive knives GSO 5.1 in 3V, or my new AD knives 5.25 inch blade woods knife I got recently. Tough call. I would really want one of my brush sword/slimline machetes too. As well as a small 3.5-4.5 inch blade for certain tasks. In that range, I'd want to choose between one of my Gollik knives, Elmax, 4 inch blade, Survive knives GSO 4.1, or Carothers field knife. I'd probably go with one of my Gollik knives for the added corrosion resistance, they are amazing knives!! It would be a tough call though.

Real issue for survival/Bushcrafting/Camping, Hiking is there are lots of other important/valuable tools to carry besides a knife. Getting hung up on the three or four toys....er...knives one carries misses the opportunity to replace some of that weight and bulk with things like fire making, water supply, shelter items, cordage, navigation aids, firearm, etc, etc, etc.
I would likely carry two knives- a primary survival type knife and then something slim, small, and precise for fine detail work.

Exactly so. You would go prepared.

Several candidates: F1 (VG-10); Marbles Campcraft (52100); Marbles Fieldcraft (52100) Mora (carbon); Ivan Campos Scandi (1070); Master Hunter (Carbon V); DH Russell Canadian Belt Knife. But I'd choose my Snow & Nealley 3/4 bit Hudson Bay ax over a knife.

I'm very fond of these two from southeast Asia. But I'd also want another small, handy slicer/carver. Like a Mora or a Dexter 1375 boning knife or the Green River 2212.

From what I currently own...most likely either my Grayman Mega Pounder or Ground Pounder.

Probably a humble Condor Kephart. I'm not a huge fan of Scandi grinds and the Kephart cuts well and is comfortable to use for long periods of time.

My ESEE Laser Strike. Large enough for light chopping, but small enough to carry without being cumbersome over long hikes. Blade shape is preferable for bushcraft chores. 1095 Steel is easy to sharpen in the field and has the toughness for hard use.
