About a week ago I ordered a surgical-black trihone from Knifeart. I read good reviews on their hones so I decided to grab one myself. Upon inspection the stone looked great except for a crack-line on the soft stone. It appeared to be a minor issue until I actually started sharpening. After sharpening, I discovered 2 things: First the hard stone was not finished properly and will need to be lapped if I am to get some tangible results from that stone. What appeared to be a very faint crack line was actually a fractured stone. After more use that fracture became more evident until it was quite obvious that the stone was fractured. This rendered 2 inches of the soft stone practically useless as the edge of my blade would snag on the crack. I did shoot an email to knifeart but I received no response. I just sent one recently and I hope for the best. Now I realize that it states in their policy that opened sharpners cannot be returned, but AT THE VERY LEAST, I would like knifeart to respond to my email. Perhaps I should have ordered from a more reputable dealer of arkansas stones and that was my fault. Any advice on how I should act on this situation?
