I order a spyderco k2 four days ago from knifecenter.com with usps priority shipping. The knife has not been shipped. The status says Ordered 1 and In Stock 0. Does it mean knifecenter actually does not have any k2 in stock? Also, the website says usually ship in 2-5 biz days. Does it mean sometimes it would take much longer? First time for me to purchase from it so sharing yuor experience would be appreciated.

Try calling them to find out. I like to verify that an item is in stock, by phone or email, before I place an order.

Good idea to give them a call. Did it say it was in stock when you ordered? I don't quite understand.

Sounds like they are still within their time-frame to get the shipment out, anyway.

Yes it did not indicate any unavailability when I placed the order. What baffles me is that the k2 is on sale with a big discount so I thought knifecenter might want to clear its stock quickly, whereas the current status is there is zero in stock. Anyway, thank both of you. I will give it a call.

Yeah Knifecenter is a solid company, one of my go to's. They might just be slow to ship it out. Most the time for me its the next day, but i had them wait 3 days before shipping once. But like everyone else said, i would give them a call for piece of mind.

Just a quick update: called this morning and was told the knife would likely be out by next Wednesday (they do not have any in stock), so this seems to be a slow case as compared to others.

(they do not have any in stock), so this seems to be a slow case
Not really a slow case - they can't ship what they don't have.
Glad you got an answer, though. Knowing you have to wait a week is marginally bettter than waiting without knowing for how long.

knifecenters website has a little in stock label on in stock items. items they have access to from a distributor, but arne't in stock in their warehouse...... you can still purchase, but they are not labeled as in stock. they takes as long as it takes knifecenter to get it from the dist and to your door.

if you look you'll see what i'm speaking of. it can be confusing for those who don't play on that site much or at all. knifecenter is a good legit dealer, so don't worry. i have spent many thousands of dollars over many many years and they always took care of me. they will take of you.

Knifecenter is a good company, just never order anything from them unless it specifically says "In Stock". I once ordered something that said "ships in 2-5 days" or something like that (wasn't in stock), I was strung along for about 3 weeks before I switched my order to something else.

When you order something from them that isn't in stock, you are at the mercy of their distributor / whoever they get their knives from, so if it isn't in stock I wouldn't bother.

Just my experience though, others may have had a different experience.
