With so many respected knife dealers out there, including the sponsor of this forum, why get wet on this one dealing from a foreign country? They are not a US company and they are not very direct in revealing this. The prices are average. Shipping seems a little high based on other vendors. They do not carry a complete line. They use "US Warehouses", so maybe everything is ordered as you order...and their use of English is funny (IMHO)!! Other than that...their site loads well and they have some nice photos.

Yes, I was.....and there are other good ones out there that won't result in a headache later on. I personally would rather spend a few extra bucks and not have to write about my headaches here, make a ton of phone calls, try to get some pain in the butt to honour a deal and lose sleep wondering what is going on with my order. If the price difference is big and you do get the knife, then you win....but usually this is not the way it ends up. However, I have no personal experence with the noted vendor.

I wonder if anyone actually ordered from the KIFLET company. At the moment, I have very bad experience with them. First, the order was placed on September 12, 2007 (yes, I was also hooked by their highly competitive price for the Roselli knives!). Then, two weeks after I placed my order, I received an e-mail message indicating that the ACTUAL price of the knife I selected is $15 higher than it is indicated on their web site (no change of the price on the web page!). In addition, the shipping fee suddenly appeared on the list (it was indicated as shipping = 0 on their invoice). And, on top of it - some additional fee! Since that time (12= days), I am sending the company e-mail messages and they do not respond. Anybody here with any positive experience with KIFLET? So far they look as a group of crooks to me... .

Later today, I decided to send a fax message to this mysterious KIFLET company. Guess what? Their web site lists some address in Texas with the phone/fax number... in Israel! I still don't know if they sent the knife and if my credit card was charged. I feel sorry for being trapped into this seemingly attractive deal! :(
My advice: stay away from KIFLET! Oh, I should have known that the free/cheap cheese is only in a mousetrap!

Finally, my story with the Knifecore.com comes to the end. Today, I called their office in Israel and had more than a strange conversation with their "manager" who has a poor command of English language. Right after this conversation, two messages came to my e-mail address. One of them was written in a form pretending that I did not accept their more than weird charges. Another message was signed by someone by the name of Boris Gavrielov, who introduced himself as a manager. This message advised me to cancel the order since they will be unable to execute it in a timely manner (the order was placed on 09/12 and still not processed - what are they - sleeping?!).
Here is an example of their "post-factum" invoice :
Price - $135 - indicated as $120 on their web site
EMS - $30, from Finland - no shipping charge is obvious from their web site when you are placing an order; the explanation is hidden on a different page of their web site
C/C Fee - $10 - what on earth is that?
Total - $175 - I rest my case here!
While preparing this note, I received yet another message from the infamous KIFLET company - here it is:
================================
Dear Sir,
We do not charging order that was canceled. [thanks God!]
I don't see that any damage occurred to you, you just don't agree with our price, and I don't see any warn activity, warn against what exactly, Sir? Any fraud actions were done to you?
[yeah, right - "no damage"? first, incorrect price and hidden shipping fees with a diffen explanation, then inability to deliver the knife which I wanted to give my friend as a birthday gift - "no damage" you say?!]
We have good reputation among US, European and other customers who regularly buying our knives and gear.
[can anybody here confirm their "good reputation"?!]
You invited to visit and review that technical mistake was fixed, price was changed.
["technical mistake"? "was fixed"? can't see when and how and what is it they call a "technical mistake"]
Good luck in your purchase!
Regards
Boris

Oh, did I mention that these guys, while communicating with you, are revealing your complete credit card information? Be aware of the possible breach in security!

Rest in peace (better, in pieces!) infamous KIFLET and your KNIFECORE.COM!

We have many dealers affiliated with Bladeforums. One Stop Knife Shop, as mentioned previously, is Bladeforums' sponsor, and a major dealer in its own right.

We also have dealer memberships. These people pay a lot for the privilege of advertising here, and are unlikely to jeopardize that investment by failing us as customers. Check out the dealer forums in the Exchange. (We really need a sticky with their names somewhere.)

Of course, asking here in GBU as the OP just did is a great way to check if you are otherwise unsure.

While not being affiliated with any of the businesses that I will name below, I salute them:
1. Cutlery Shoppe - even if there is a delay, the business' representative will get in touch with you and you will always have a very good communication with the store.
2. Ragnar's Ragweed Forge - you can place your order by fax, e-mail, phone or by just filling out the on-line form, and if you call - the person on the other end of the line is very friendly and will try to do his best to help you.
Bottom line: there ARE businesses that make some significant difference!

On a different subject: would it be useful for the forum's visitors to really see our good and bad experiences to learn from them?... The moderator's advice on this matter will be deeply appreciated. Personally, I came to this forum in search for the truth about KIFLET - and I didn't find any except for one person saying that we have enough of our own [I assume, the U.S.-based] to go to the foreign ones - this wasn't helpful at all... so I've got into my own "mousetrap"... and I don't want anybody to follow me - I mean, to repeat my mistake :).

That's what this forum, The Good, The Bad, The Ugly, is for ... for us to share our experiences with buyers and sellers.

That you did not find any feedback on Kiflet probably means that no one here has dealt with them. They have no advertising presence here. They don't have any special products we can't find elsewhere.

If anyone did find the website and looked it over, they might have had their suspicions. It's not just patriotism that leads people to look for a local supplier. Problems with someone in another country can be especially difficult to resolve, not to mention language misunderstandings.
