KnifeHead..NO WAY! and other Blade activity.

The coolest thing Kerry told me about the knife is that the scratches on the blade are natural to the steel, and not manmade. I think that's pretty neat.

You're talking about the "worm tracks" or dark lines in the Wharncliffe blade. Those aren't scratches but is a pattern that showed up in the blade after I etched it. I think it is carbon from the HT process but I am guessing. Whatever it is, it is in the steel and what can ya do. It'll still cut I reccon, :D

Kerry basically said in correct terms what I was trying to say in incorrect terms. In other words, it's really really neat...not just neat.

I edited this to add an extra "really"

Dont want to sidetrack this thread but could someone tell me how the drawing worked at the Bose table. I saw all the cards and was wondering. Thanks

This year there were 20 knives for the drawing and a set of Dogs Head Trappers for silent auction. The drawing works like this:

Put your name on a card and place it in front of the knife you would like to buy(only one card per knife). Then, during the drawing, if they call your name you get the chance to purchase the knife from the stack of cards where you placed your name. Everyone usually puts a card in front of all the knives. I think this year there was close to 200 cards for each knife. Then, after they call Bastids name, we get to see him try and walk with a horse shoe stuck up his tush.. ;)

Randy,

Great explanation! Is this why Gus walks with a limp? :D

And.. I just want to take this time to thank all of you who were there, to share your fun times and especially photos with us who weren't there! This just makes me want to attend..all the more. I DID have reservations for this year, but had to cancel. (I wonder who got my room)? ;)

We have a huge event coming up this fall, (the RNC Convention), and have had many extra days of training added. Had a guy here yesterday from Boston PD, and he went over the DNC that was there in 2004. Many of you wouldn't believe all the bad stuff that happens when people riot!

I thinking of asking Blues to come out of retirement, and to stand next to me! We'll just talk knives..and have a blast!

I have Mike R. to thank for mentioning Mike Zscherny and his knives to me on Thursday evening in the elevator.

Barely snagged one and it is fantastic! Liked it so much, I placed an order with Mike for another on Friday morning.

Gus, I think I placed the same order as you, but he said he would give me mine first because I'm younger and more impatient ;)

Gus,

I think Mike was in the elevator with us as we were headed up to Tony's room. At least that's my somewhat fuzzy memory. I'm glad you got one and I plan on picking up some more down the road as well.

As John Hanlon (2toes) said on the phone to me yesterday, Mike is well on his way.

While I very much enjoyed meeting Don Hanson at the show, his knives were even more enjoyable to handle (no offense meant, Don!), including a bowie that was picked up by one of the BoseHos. I was really tempted to get the last slip joint he had on his table.

Who did get that one? I handled it, loved it, placed it down to think about, walked away, came back later, You snooze, You lose!
Great Show

Barely snagged it? Hell, he near ripped 'em out of my hands and then asked me if I was gonna buy either of the two that Mike had left. (Luckily the Bose room had emergency supplies in case I needed medical attention as a result.) :p :p :p

Too small for ya anyway!

I dunno, Gus, you did see me CE & CF'n that little "Amherst" you walked away with later on.

Could it be that all of Jackknife's (et al) posts have thrown a monkey wrench into the works?:eek::eek: (Well, not just yet... ;))

Anyway, it's nice to see that what suits my eye turns out to be good enough for the likes of Bastid and Waynorth.

Waynorth is a regular and a major part of the lifeblood of ths little sub-forum.

I was going to say he was daddy, as in "who's yo daddy" because, dayum!, he is a walkin encyclopedia of vintage knifeage.

It's a "Family Affair" and Charlie is in the house.

At first I was a little unnerved by his offers to tuck me at night when we were at Blade and then I realized he meant well.

Good guy, that Charlie.

I heard "Mr. French" busted into Vince and Scott's room to break up the tighty whitey pillow fight. Just wait till he tells their father. :D

BTW...did anyone else notice that chickenplucker's avatar has hooters?

Reese brought all the cards from the drawing home to get a final count and look what fell out of the bag :) What are the odds??? Out of all those dang cards this one fell out of the bag and on the floor of my truck??? I don't know if this is a good or bad omen?? Riad..what sort of curse have you put on me???
