just got off the phone w/a great dude at Knifekits - these folks are *awesome*!!!
1. i had placed a relatively small order via the Internet; when they went to use a USPS-based database labeling system to ship, my address entered in my order came up as 'non-existent'!!!!
2. they called, "We're having a problem with your address."
3. i called 'em back:
"I'll bet it's a problem with Endicia's address database." (Endicia is a commercial software address/labeling system). "My address is valid. Type it into zillow and you'll see a picture of my house!"
"Yep, that's the system we use. OK. We'll see what we can do. We'll take care of this today."
4. I go to the Endicia web site. Have a 'live chat' with a tech rep. The problem? It's the USPS!!!! The more than 36 homes on my street don't exist!!!!
5. I file a 'Business Address Quality' bug fix with USPS via its Web site. (I'm not holding my breath on a resolution, folks.)
6. Get an email. The folks at knifekits send my order via FedeX, and give me a tracking number.
7. Get a FOLLOWUP phone call from knifekits about the shipping issue!!!! (We had a chuckle over the phone and I passed on my efforts. Told 'em from now on I'll save my pennies for a bigger order and just have the package sent UPS/Fedex)
Knifekits, 1; me, 1; USPS, a BIG FAT ZERO!
