Knifemaking burnout

I'm a very moody maker. I have a heck of a time getting in the mood to do a knife. This year in particular I've let knives go for a lot of other work which initially was brought into what I do just to diversify to keep from burning out on one thing. The other things I came up with to do in my shop help to fill the gap but what happened was unexpected in that the other things I do are now are my primary bread winners and knives are the back seat item. My pocket clips and pry bars pay the bills now while I try to find the mood for knives. In the mean time I just keep doing what I can find motivation to do. Or you could do as Ken suggests and just fish. That'll work too! :D

I know what you guys mean, but I've got a slightly different problem. I've got about six completely finished blades, heated treated and everything, but I just can't seem to get up the desire to finish them off. And everytime I see them, I feel a mixture of guilt and annoyance. I think I'll just put them in a drawer and make something very, very different, maybe that will motivate me.

Dave
