Hello all! It's been quite a while since I've made a post out here. So here is a little about what's been going on with me.

My wife and I had our first child in September, and I started a new job in November. Between those two things, I've not been able to get any time in the shop. Prior to that I was turning out a folder every couple of weeks. I believe I've finished three knives since then, and I've not been in the shop in about a month. I've been keeping up with the forums from time to time, but just not making any posts. I have a new respect for you knifemakers that hold down a family, a full time job, and still have time to make knives!

I have a couple of orders for scale release autos that I hope to get started on in a couple of weeks, so to try to get my knifemaking fires going again, I'm going to give away a couple of knifemaking DVDs or VHS tapes.

I've created DVDs of my Scale Release Auto video and Bruce Evans' Tomahawk video. The DVDs were generated from the raw digital video, so the video quality is better than that which is on the VHS tapes. The DVDs are also broken down by chapters, so you can jump to whatever part of the demonstration that you would like.

To qualify to win one of the videos or DVDs, do the following:

1) Go to my website, http://www.chriscrawford.com/knives, and click on the Knife Galleries.
2) Select the knife that you like the most and reply to this thread with the Knife Name and the Ref. Number.
3) Also state in the thread if you would like the Scale Release video or the Tomahawk video, and if you want it on DVD or VHS.

I'll be giving away one DVD or VHS of the Scale Release Auto video, and one DVD or VHS of the Tomahawk video. I'll randomly pick the winers next Wednesday night from the replies in this thread. (Jan. 29, 2003)

Sorry for going on for so long.... Anyone still reading?;) Good luck, and have fun.

-chris

Hey Chris, glad to see you back on the forums!
Congratulations on the new addition to your family!!!

If anyone here is looking for instruction on making folders, either lockbacks or scale release autos, get one of Chris' tapes or dvds.
Even if you just want to see how it's done or want to make slip joints or liner locks these will help you alot. I bought one of his tapes and it is great, very informative and he shows every step of building the knife in the video.

Chris,

Congatulations on that new addition.

I really like that A1 - Scale Release Auto number 75.

Put me down for the Scale Release Auto in VHS.

Thanks for the nice and definately helpful offer.

Roger

OK I'll throw my name in the hat.

How about #65 and the scale release on DVD.

Nice offer, thanks Chris.

Steve

BTW since you haven't been in the shop can I assume you're enjoying fatherhood?:) :)

The three blade stockman ref. number 83 is my favourite... its beautiful.

I'm interested in the scale release DVD if I win.

Cool contest, thanks! :-D

Cool contest, thanks!

I like Knife #62 the ebst, your Ivory sheepsfoot folder. My reason is that it looks like a knife that my great grandfather would carry, not something made by some 21st century knife maker! Pretty cool knife there...

As autos are a big nono here in Cananda, I haven'd generated much of an interest in them. So, put me down for tomahawk DVD please, If I win of course!

Hello Chris !

I am happy to see you here again and congratulation for your first child !

The knife Num. - 75 with Bark-Bone is my favourite !
But I also like much the others, in particular the Num. - 80
(H2 - Hunter) or Num. - 42 (Miniature Drop Point Hunter)

I would be happy to have any your dvd... But I would like to try to make my first folder soon, your video surely would help much ! ... (although a tomoak would be also interesting to try...)

Thanks !

First Congratulation on your child!!
1- #41 Mini Texas Toothpick
2- #70 Scale Release Auto
Please put me down for =Scale Release Auto ,DVD=

Congrats Man!!!:)

I love the A1 - Scale Release Auto , Ref Number 75. And I think the Auto Release DVD would rock!!

Thanks for the chance:)

I like the Toothpick Bowie, Knife Ref. No.- 68

I'll go for a copy of Bruce Evans Tomahawk video on DVD.

Nice knives, it was hard to pick. I know how hard it is to get in the shop. Between work and family I haven't been in the shop in the past month to speak of either.

I can't stop looking at this one... (#71)

Chris thanks for the offer: My selection and reason for it...
Knife name: Railroad spike dagger
knife ref # 35
I like this because: 1) It shows great usage of a simple pre form(recycling at its finest) 2) Shows where the maker started to learn some basic techniques, and style. 3)shows inginuity in marketing. 4) Its cool

#65 A1- Scale release auto
The bone handle and the O1 turned me on!

If I'm the lucky one I would like the VHS of the Tomahawk video. Maybe it would help with the 'hawk' I'm working on.
Thanks, Lynn
