Hey guys,

i'm considering taking a position in manufacturing in Hsin-Chu City, Taiwan and was wondering if anyone know the knife/sword laws there? I know guns are not permitted in Taiwan :(, but i've known that for a gazillion years. I doubt i would have anytime to make knives while there anyways, but seeing as Taiwan is much more strict than the USA, anyone know anything regarding knifemaking? or even knife possessing ?

Thanks,

Pohan

I won't say I know excat things there, but I do hear some folks say that as long as you apply for a certain permission (which is not hard at all), you can take pretty much anything ( under common sense if you carry in public of course). No blade length limit, no automatic/gravity limits whatsoever. But that's just what I heard, check out with someone actually live there.

Considering there is a knife magazine publiched in Taiwan http://www.knife-life.com.tw/index.htm

And they seem to hold a knifeshow every year in Taipei with custom makers from around the world attending, knife laws are probably not that bad.
I have heard of a couple of swordsmiths working there and went into a knife store in Taipei once that had a few Loveless knives in thier case.
Not to mention all the shops making martial arts weapons. Martial arts training is still
part of the culture, much like in Japan with strict gun laws but you see lots of
people walking around with sword cases, archery equiptment, and pole arms on
the subway on the way to the Dojo.
