Hey does anyone here have experience with knifeoutlet.com? I ordered something last week, and the order shows on their website as "Copmleted", but there is nothing listed under "transactions" and I did not receive a message with tracking info.

My CC company shows the charge.

Multiple messages through the contact form, and several to customer_service@knifeoutlet.com have gone unanswered.

If they just told me they don't send a tracking number until it ships and they're behind a few days I wouldn't mind. Or if the thing said "Pending Shipment" instead of complete. Or if they - oh I don't know - answered their e-mail.

Does anyone have experience with these guys? Did I get scammed? Or are they just kind of bad at customer service?

Thanks.

They finally got in touch. They are out of stock and the charge, they say, will fall off in a few weeks. Or I could order something else. I think I'll let the charge fall off. These guys aren't worth doing business with in my opinion.

But it does not appear to be a scam so much as a very badly run operation.

That's my impression. I've ordered from them in the past and it seems like they're probably either a drop shipper or a one man operation that's not terribly organized.

The charge will "fall off?" I've heard of charges being refunded, which requires action on the part of the seller, but not that.

In your position I'd be calling my CC company, and asking them whether "fall off" makes sense to them, and if it does not, initiating a chargeback.

Contact your credit card service rep tomorrow or the next day to find out if it's a "pending charge" or if the charge actually went through.
If it's a pending charge, then it will probably "fall off" as they say.
If the charge went through, the company will need to specifically issue a refund.

You may need to contact your credit card service rep over the next few days to ask about the charge as some companies don't settle charges every day and may do so weekly. I think my credit card company will only allow a pending charge to remain pending for 5 days max.

So this all ended after I started an action with my CC company. He said one thing, then another, then another, but at least in the end I didn't lose any money. But he is the worst. Literally sent me an e-mail calling me an "asshole". Then when I said I'm looking forward to posting that email he wrote "That's a great idea. I can then post your email and explain that you are a fraud" which makes no sense. The guy is just awful to deal with, I recommend staying away.

Name-calling is the last refuge of the scammer on his way down.
Yeah I hope he's on his way out of the business. I did get a notice from PayPal and I have to go through a check now, and I have a suspicion that it's because of this guy. No proof of that, just a guess. It's not a problem, but if it is him, I wish he'd spend the time updating his website instead of chasing after people who complain. Anyway, lesson learned.

I've ordered from him in the past, and he's a genuine seller. But customer service is not his strong suit.

Sounds like he might have been a genuine seller in the past, but he isn't anymore. I didn't lose any money on him, but he's not a genuine seller if genuine means anything like I think it is. Or seller. For example, he'd have to have the inventory he claims. Just for example.

Looks to me like this seller's name is Fred Whitlock. His latest relatiation against me, I think (but can only strongly infer, is that he told PayPal I was a scammer. Just had to clear things up with PayPal, no big deal. But this Fred Whitlock guy from KnifeOutlet / KnifeOutlet.com is pretty awful. Do not recommend.

Just a heads up for some people thinking of making their next purchase with Fred Whitlock out of Lakeview,IN

I purchased a knife from them.I was never provided with a confirmation email or a tracking number.

I had forgotten about my order but I called two months later to ask what was going on.I was told that my order was never shipped and my CC was not charged.....WHAT....I say that I have my paper CC Statement with a charge with KnifeOutlet and the amount told.....He goes on to tell me the CC Charge is a Pending Charge.....WHAT.....I said this a transaction from two months ago.....I go on again three times about my Statement but it gets, NOWHERE

So I contacted my CC Provider a few weeks ago to dispute the transaction and last week, I get a call about my chargeback,to get some more details. This week I get my Statement and ....SURPRISE...there's no Charge Back for the transaction.I am sure Fred disputed my Chargeback.

I have to say that I had bought from KnifeOutlet over 10 years ago but.... NEVER AGAIN.....THE WORST DEALER AROUND
