I'd been accumulating knives for about 12 or 13 years when my wife asked me one day "When does the part come where you sell these at a profit?" Well, I tried and soon discovered that I hadn't purchased especially desirable knives and I hadn't paid the right price for them. One evening I was looking on the internet and found a dealer who had an area called Make An Offer. It was KnifePurveyor.com I emailed him about a particular knife and said I was new to buying investment grade knives and I didn't want to offend him but all I could afford was $XXX. He emailed me back and asked me what my goals were. I was at the point where I either had to start buying investment grade knives that I could resell without loosing my shirt or stop collecting. Michael Donato was kind enough to call me and discuss my needs. He started by helping my understand values of certain knives I was interested in, even if they weren't on his site. Some he recommended I buy and others he recommended I not buy. There was a beautiful knife on his site that I wanted and he told me three times not to buy it because the market just wasn't there to support my resale of the knife when I got tired of it. Stupid me, I bought it anyway. I'm still not sorry. I really like the knife. But better than that, I found a really honorable man to deal with. He has never broken a promise, led me astray or let me buy anthing else that I couldn't at least break even on. He has answered all my questions as I've begun to move into being a "Catch and Release" type of collector. Michael gave me back my hobby. I've had the honor of dealing with him for about the last three years. I'm retired and really needed something to do. I have just about all I can afford tied up in my collection but Michael makes it possible for me to sell the knives I have purchased and buy new ones. He gave me back my hobby. I can't tell you what a relief it is to have someone you can trust when you don't know your way around. If you are looking for fine custom knives at good prices with the best available advice to go with them, I'd get in touch with Michael Donato at KnifePurveyor.com. He is honest, thorough, prompt, dependable and just a really good guy. Just thought someone else out there might be in the same spot as me. Michael is not only my knife dealer he is a real friend. I hope you all find one as good.
