I'll make it short.
I'm going to New York city.Can I carry my Leaterman sideclip? And what does US customs say about bringing it into the country?

If you mean a Leatherman multitool, you won't have a problem wearing one in NYC. Many people, including me(Leatherman Supertool), wear one every day on their belts. Usually for some type of work...construction, electrical, etc. The NYC carry laws on knives(to the best of my knowledge) are:

-Blade length under 4"
-No switchblades/automatics
-No balisongs
-No double edged blades
-No gravity knives
-No knives with knuckle guards

To the best of my knowledge, there is no law against balisongs in NY or NYC. However, there are laws against carrying any knife openly, except for a few specific cases. If your Leatherman is judged to be primarily a knife, it might be best to keep it inside your pocket.

P.S., I think this is the only case of required concealed carry that I've seen. Anyone have other examples?
