on Feb 4 that he would take the item. It was priced at $225. I don’t hear from him until...

Feb 8, when he offers $200 for the item he already said he would buy. I say no, you already committed to the purchase and I do not accept the offer. He says roger that, he is transferring funds and will pay soon.

Feb 10, no change, I ask for an update. No response.

Feb 18, I reach out again, stating that I don’t want to have to leave negative feedback (or a post in this thread), but I will if needed to highlight poor exchange conduct.

Feb 18, he says he is having trouble with PayPal and is calling them that day. He says he will keep me updated. Offers for me to sell it in the meantime if I would like.

No response since. This is poor trading conduct and should not be tolerated on bladeforums. I have had hundreds of amazing deals on here with amazing people. This is an unfortunate one.

I know flakes upset a lot of folks on here and my general opinion is that it's not a big deal, but this definitely seems a bit worse than the usual ghosting on an, "I'll take it," that you sometimes see. I don't blame the OP for being upset.

That's a classless move by @kniferMan. As soon as he tried to offer lower price after commiting to buy, you know he's a POS.

Apparently, he's not good at shipping in a timely manner either, if you look at his profile page.

Happens a lot around here lately. I won’t be selling anymore on here in the future. I don’t think this warrants a bad review though. He’s just a flake.

Yes, that is pretty flaky to say the least...especially for someone to keep the thing somewhat alive for a matter of weeks. I've had good luck here for the most part. But every once in a while I think we all get one of these types.
Sorry you got the run around, but thanks for letting us all know.

Except for my first few deals where I was impatient and didn't know how the community worked, I've had only great experiences buying, selling, and trading.
Usually on any deal, I expect, and try, to perform my part as quickly as possible, meaning if I'm buying, once I post I'll take it and communicate right away with the seller, I try to pay as quickly as possible (within minutes of receiving the paypal address).

That is certainly A+ conduct you describe. I am pretty lenient, within 2-3 days after saying you'll take it (without having to tell me it'll be more) is fine too. If longer than that, a heads up is appreciated. If I needed payment to be that immediate, I would say so in my sales thread... same way I say that I usually only ship once a week.

Thank you for the heads up on this buyer. He will be going to my ignore list.

If I may, a little advice. Flakes are gonna happen. don't let it get you down. I don't mark anything as sold (or SPF) until it is paid for. State in your ad that you expect prompt payment. This covers you if someone flakes, you then sell to someone else, and then the flake shows back up and makes a stink.

Next, do not threaten things that are against the rules. You can't leave feedback for a guy flaking. You need to understand this as it applies to the larger context of knowing and following all the rules here.

Him offering less after saying he would take it is a big red flag and so was the lack of communication until that offer. That is two red flags. I know it is tempting to try to get a sale even if you have to overlook little issues here and there but in the long run it might save your skin to pay attention to the red flags. If this buyer is willing to do these things before he gets the item, the potential for him to be a problem after he gets the item increases greatly IMO. You should have walked away from the deal right then.
