Yeah, these are still going for $150-$300 depending on condition. This one gives me "err" message but if I fire several shots in a row it will function fine. I wouldn't buy a D80 for full price these days, the metering is off about 2/3 stop over. Having to dial in -0.7 compensation as default is a OK way to do it, but remembering to do so after every reset is another matter. I'd rather get a D70s or another D200. I think I have narrowed the issue down to the aperture control unit. $50 part and a couple hours time to disassemble the entire camera.
Either way, I'm gonna get this thing going one way or another.

I hope you get it going... they seem like a cool camera! I need to try playing around with the settings on mine more, the tie-dye frickie was not captured well no matter what the lighting was. Probably just me though! lol
I can't wait, PICS! Stonewash and the pinless construction sounds like it's going to be cool.
I'd really like to see that.
I've never really looked into them, but just did a little research, I can see how it could add ease but I'm always a bit sceptic about anything that adds another part to an already
working formula.
I'll have more pics soon!

They are going to be nice.
Any time more is added to do the same thing... not my style. That's why I went with thumb slot on the folders vs a stud, in general I like minimalist style.
I always thought a button lock would add lots of un-needed complications. The pic of the William Henry taken apart is what sold me, just two liners, blade and simple button... I'm going to look into it more.
I'm always planning though, often projects take a year of planning for me to accomplish. I am staying focused on Framelocks for the moment!
Daniel, I was reading that button lock thread too. I am finding it very interesting and inspiring. I dug a little deeper around the internet and took a close look at my ProTech TR3 . I really want to take a shot at making one. The mechanism is so simplistically brilliant. The lock on my TR3 is solid after about a year or so. No play at all and no sticking ever. I will baton a a Pinto ( of the 77 vintage) in half tomorrow and report back.

Today's PSA announcement from FBC is, Do not use your thumb as a pushstick while using a band saw! *shrug* live and learn.
I'm waiting on pics of that Pinto! Will it baton a Gremlin?
I agree, way simpler than I thought and they sound rock solid. I was telling Sara I might have to get one for research.
ouch! be careful with that bandsaw! I had one, it broke and I retired the whole bandsaw thing. I only have to deal with high rpm exploding chop saw blades now! I'm a maniac with the hacksaw...
Kevin that's why you have an extra on your other hand...
This time change is screwing with me, wide awake, bored because everyone else is asleep. Or it could be the 20oz. latte I had at 7 o'clock.

not the latte! lol! my coffee maker is half broken and makes some kind of high caffeine sludge I am drinking, it is way tasty but I may need to cut back!
You guys have a good one!
