Knifeworks Grizzly

I have never sharpened a recurve.

I had no issues on my Spyderco sharpmaker...... It was easy and quick,...... This is now my favorite knife..... Which is why I have 4 of them

I have a sharpmaker as well.. Any tips? Do you use the flats or corners? I was thinking of using the flats and tilting the knife in such a way that the recurve makes contact with the corners then slowly tilt the knife back to the straight position as I reach the belly and tip? Obviously I would keep the knife level throughout this motion which I believe would keep the angle consistent? Thank you for the help.

My knife is an absolutely perfect example except it didn't come as sharp as I would like.

I just sharpen as I would any other knife, edges and then flats on fine then super fine stones.....I haven't needed to tilt and all, and it seems to sharpen just fine.

My wife bought me one for x-mas last year & I love it! The "fidget factor" is nuts. I play with it constantly, opening & closing it 100 times a day sometimes. I just can't seem to help it...
Quick heads up: the thumb-stud on mine wasn't Loctited (is that a word?) & eventually worked loose. A Torx 5 bit and the blue Loctite fixed that. 10 minutes for it to set & I was back to playing with it.

Something else I noticed is that the part of the AXIS lock that we interact with gets really dirty. I don't know if it's the Versaflex or what, but I can have freshly washed & dried hands & just playing with it for a few minutes will get some kind of gunk in the divot of the bar where you place your thumb. A toothpick is all it takes to clean the crud out of it. The crud is gray like the Versaflex material. I'm white, Caucasian if I'm feeling politically correct, so I don't think it's minute skin particles...

Also, while playing with it, I heard a muted "click" sound & weird feel to the AXIS lock about a week ago. Turns out the Omega spring on the front/top side of the knife [the side with the Benchmade logo on blade] got halfway crippled. It didn't completely break but it is obvious that is where it will break soon, because there usually isn't that hard of a bend at the apex of the Omega spring's curve: it's supposed to be round like a tilted on it's side "C" not come almost to a point. Guess I have to send it to Benchmade for replacement. But it has stopped me from constantly playing with the knife anytime I have a free hand, something I'm sure my wife is silently happy about, especially when she is sleeping & I'm checking email or something & just pick it up to play with. I got skilled at opening it with my non-dominant left hand, though, something that transfers to opening all my knives now.

Out of town for work, but the grizzly ridge showed up today! Wife wasn’t too happy, but she was nice enough to send me these pics. I will inspect tomorrow evening when I get back!
Ha Ha Ha. That's actually why I didn't tell my wife about the Auto Rift I bought from GP Knives. $159 cause they are being discontinued... GP Knives is out of stock, but at last check 10 minutes ago, Blade HQ still has 'em.

Took advantage of this killer KW exclusive as well. I’m getting used to the grippy scales when inserting and removing from my pants pockets. I loosened up the tension of the clip slightly, and that seems to help. Overall, I love this knife. Weight, size, blade-to-handle, aesthetics... just a winner. Oh, and did I mention that all of this was $79?!
For mine, centering and lock up are perfect. No blade play at all. And the recurve? No worries. I know the Lansky turn box and Sharpmaker will keep it sharp. Again, love it.

My Wife, Maggie, loves the knife and I can say I really like it too! She has mostly ZTs at this point, but this is her first Axis Lock and Benchmade.

I think this is the sharpest BM I have ever seen out of the box; it easily push-cuts cheap advertising-insert newsprint without tearing. I found this performance impressive for a knife with a fairly stout blade.

I can't believe that Roger will have these much longer at this killer price.

Nicely done Knifeworks and Benchmade.

best
