OUI OUI :)

I'm a bit rusty and I only had the knife a few hours but muscle memory is key and this blade is balanced just right

Back in the day when I really trained with these suckers I was like a baton twirler :)

Nice Joe, amazing work, knife build, Jason is the guy! Got to meet him at Ashokan one year when he showed up with Burt, now there's a combo for you ;)

And Paul's sheathwork is, well it just IS the sheath work in the world, LOVE Paul's stuff.

And yeah, I agree, I would say you do look ominous wielding that knife about like that, I feared for your garage mostly, some tight quarters there but that goes to show how fast and maneuverable that knife is, excellent job, thanks for sharing, now I want a big knife too ;)

Static line's work great for sash and IWB

I can not believe more sheaths do not run this way

Hooked to your belt and slapping you in the leg is a relatively new way to carry a blade compared to sash carry

Sash carry is thousands of years old and comes from a time when men actually carried and used their steel

When you sit in a car its easy on easy off

You can use the static line to also tie in the sheath to your belt if need be or lash to a pack

Sometimes the old ways surpass the new when it comes to the carry of weapons

Im so putting a static line on my next sheath.

I certainly only see advantages to it for sash carry (which incidentally is very convenient IMO).

You mention 'old ways;' is there any historial evidence of a static line being used or is it a relatively new concept?

Men through out the ages have sash carried there blades

Using a static line or cord is not a new thing

The Japanese who made combat an art form used a Sageo to attach there Sword, Wakizashi, Tanto , etc to their belt

I started experimenting with using a Sageo as a means to tie in a blade when there would be a chance of loosing it

Situations like horseback riding , vigorous hiking etc.

When I would be walking around normally and did not want it tied tight to my belt I would just affix the end of the Sageo to my belt so that it would act as a static line

The true comfort of sash carry and IWB carry comes from the sheath free floating, when you tie it in or clip it in it becomes less comfortable

So this is where I started using Static lines. Taking Sageos from Asian style blades and rigging them that way

Here I am 20 + years ago in Africa with a Phill Hartsfield Kwaiken worn sash style using the Sageo as a static line

So I have been doing things this way for along time and so far I have found no better way

Thanks for comprehensive answer (as always).

Im aware of the tradition of sash carry and fully agree with you.
Ive hog hunted with the sheath on my belt using the 'conventional' carry style of looping the belt through a channel in the sheath.
A simple sash carry is far more elegant and per definition closer to the body - not something to be underestimated in dense brush.
The static line will offer added security and for the sash carry and not least peace of mind - the latter not to be underestimated either.
Thanks again.

Glad I could help

I get a kick out of people that think a large blade is slow to put into play and a waved folder is quick :)

Worn properly I have seen guys skin a sword in the blink of an eye and draw a big knife in a blur

It all depends how you wear it and what type of sheath :)

Thanks for sharing, Joe. Great vid from a SME that clearly illustrates Jason's and Paul's (and your!) talent.

Amen to that.

Awesome knife & a great job on the video! Slick knife handling skills are always cool to see. Nice work Joe

Thanks ever so much for the kind words :)

My only wish is that there could be more of these project pieces

From the amount of emails and messages I have received we could of sold at least double the amount

Thank you all so much from Jason and myself for all the accolades

great video Joe, look forward to more like it! although another project that sold out too fast :grumpy: looks like i'll have to stalk you for the next one, third times the charm

This is the one thing about the projects that bothers me.

I wish there were more to go around to all of you good people out there in knife land :)

You have my email stay in touch my friend

Here is a picture of the balance point on this nasty SOB

Oh man. I'm still dreaming about this piece of perfection. Maybe some quantum physics and a bit of magic and I can duplicate that balance scene on my finger? Mike

Joe,

Fantastic knife and I really enjoyed the video. Learned a lot too and now I want Paul to make me a very similar sheath for a Knight Bowie I just recently acquired. I missed out on getting one of these but only because I was spending all my $$ on a couple AR15 builds.... OF Course this turned out to be another special knife!! I've yet to see anything Jason does bladewise that I don't like.

I always look forward to your posts Joe! :)
