Knives 2010 My first appearance

I've emailed Joe this thread and also mentioined it would be an asset to provide a .PDF file of the corrected data for print and insertion into the existing books. That may not happen, but I tried. :)

Bottom line: The photo index is a secondary resource. 90% of us simply ogle as they come.

The printed quality of the images this year, surpasses ALL previous years. This, combined with the input Joe received last year about the comments, have elevated the book to a higher standard.

Yes, the photo index is a mistake. Don't let that corrupt an otherwise superb periodical.

Coop - I have heard alot of critical comments about the index. While I hate to sidebar on this thread, believe it's important that we recognize what happened with the photo index, so thanks for finding out!

Though a big one, it turns out to be a single, simple mistake - instead of innumerable ones. I think it helps us all understand now.

Brian, as a collector, I remember the first knife I owned that appeared in a publication. Wow, what a rush. And for a maker, beyond a rush, it must be so gratifying to see your work reach the public even more! Congratulations!

Thank you all for the compliments, and congratulations to everyone else that was published.

My purpose of this thread was to share my excitement of being published in this book. Although disappointed that I did not find my name in the index, my disappointment was because I thought that I had not been published.

Roger and Coop make very good points that the index is less important that the photos. It is publications like this that allow us to be identified and it all comes at a very reasonable price -- free.

This publication continues to get better and as Coop said, the photo quality is fantastic. My knife for example is a big knife that was reduced in size to fit an area, yet all the detail is still there.

Let me close with a quote from Coop:
Yes, the photo index is a mistake. Don't let that corrupt an otherwise superb periodical.

Thanks
Brian

Congratulations! Mine hasn't made it here yet but I will ogle at all the pages I'm sure. Some day maybe I will get a chance to have one in there.

I would say that not only are the printed quality of the images very good this year, but the selection of knives in general are as good if not better than I have seen in the book in recent memory. Nary a stinker to be found anywhere........well, except for maybe a couple by some hack from the Tampa Bay area:D But seriously, the last issue that I remember flooring me like this one was maybe the 2006 book and I have become more critical since then.
