knives and alcohol?

i dont cut flesh or body parts, im not a surgeon

i use my knife to cut clothes off of trauma patients, nothin fancy or dramatic

lol i thought about that when i typed it

alas, the bodily fluids i come in contact with are not al quaeda's, and thus unworthy of a dark ops

Good point. Both you and those fluids are not worthy of the tactical awesomeness that is Dark Ops.

:D

They seem to have installed Purrel hand sanitizer stations all over the place. I've seen them in Airports, Libraries and ever zone where I work. Makes a handy blade cleaner to remove residue. Don't be cleaning your blade in the airport though.

Its 65% Ethl alchol, but contains Vit E and other unknown "moisturizers" so maybe its not ideal.

They make knives specifically designed for that sort of work. Most have blunt tips. What kind of knife are you using?

Strong alcohol (more than 50-60%) can cause acrylic to crack. Some knives do have acrylic handles, spacers, etc so be careful if you are not sure what the handle material is.

thanks for the heads up mahoney, i don't think i have any acrylic handles though

tyr_shadowblade: yep i got a few of those, but for fun i switch out my edc, usually when i know i may be using it on a patient, i use my h1 salt, or byrd meadowlark rescue

those aren't the blades i am worried about, when i posted the OP, i was on a call, where no body had trauma shears, we had to get these jeans off to view a pelvic injury, and the only cutting implement we had between us was my 710

i usually grab handful of clothes and hold my knife with edge away from patient and pull it through

had to go through some wet underwear, so i had to wipe down the blade, then got all worried about the D2
