Knives and Art

My Wife was a self taught expert in Native American ledger drawings. She learned how to read the drawings which were the paper equivilant to the earlier exploit robes. She copied many drawings to exacting specs, this is one of them.
It depicts Sitting Bull and all his regalia. This one was originally done by Howling Wolf a Cheyenne who was a member of the Bow string society as Sitting Bull was. Notice the sitting bull above his head.

Some very cool art and knives in this thread.

Thank you to everybody that posted kind comments on my daughter's homemade knife. It really made me proud when she brought that home, and I cherish it because I know that she was sitting at school thinking about me.

Man I just LOVE looking at wee kids drawings, I have kept most probably 80% of my girls Drawings, now and then we get all nostalgic and get them out and have a giggle, but they bring tears to my eyes.

Sarah - your son has great talent -when you first showed that painting I honestly said "Wow" ...oh hold on...I just clicked on your Sons link...I will repeat it..."wow"..talented guy.

I love Drawing ...I sharpen all my Watercolour pencils with Traditionals - which makes me hoe through the pencil twice as quick - but hey-its my drawing and I will do what I want to put heart into the product.
Right now I am drawing Paul Hilborns Dog Buddy, Whew...what drives me mental is that I draw so that the close you look - the more detail you see which is opposite as most painters/drawers ...so you can see hairs etc.
Cut It Out rimbrent!:D

Beautiful and scary too -I'm intrigued by how similar the figures are to Bayeaux tapestry

As a young lad, I liked to draw and paint all sorts of compositions. This is just one oil painting I did at about age 15. Never really did much artwork as an adult though. But as an adult, I see all the flaws in much of what I did back then.
Knife content in and outside of the painting. :D

Maybe your talent lies in photography, Bob!!??:D

:D No, I don't think so Charlie, but thank you. :D My photography is put to shame by many other members here. I just use a simple point and shoot or my cell phone.

Does this qualify?

I confess to knowing little about art, having always been drawn to artisans and their craft more than artists.

Hi Meako
Yes, they are similar but our Horses are nice and slim compared to the fat Bayeaux Horses ;-))))
The paper drawing were mainly done in prison in Florida, sadly.
Here is where the ledger drawings came from. This robe is a history of a Bufallo hunt.
