Knives and Coffee

Had to, obviously

Good ole Door County. Years ago it was a great place for a top down jeep ride. Has been years since I visited it
It still can be. We discovered this B & B five years ago and used to go twice a year, July 4th weekend (crowded as you night imagine) and the first weekend in December. Possibly the best trip we had was the weekend of July 4th, 2020, during the Covid pandemic. Lots of businesses and events closed and lots less people but we had the county almost to ourselves.

Last year we found this wonderful little coffee shop in northern Door County, Wisconsin. While the coffee is pretty good, they make an excellent granola that goes well on a hot bowl of oat meal.View attachment 2478932
Oh how I miss Door County! I went to high school in Greenbay and every summer was spend in either Door County or up in Hayward on tigercat flowage.
Thanks for the memory!

I have a good friend whose mother and father both came from Washington Island. We used to hunt deer over there and stayed with his maternal grandmother. One night over dinner, his grandmother observed that the shirt I had on (wool navy blue Pendleton with flapped pockets) looked familiar and that she used to buy similar shirts for her late husband, a real, Gods-honest- fellas, Great Lakes ship captain! Turns out, his ship survived the historic Armistice storm of 1940, which sank several ships on the Lakes and is popularly known as "The Day the Duck Hunters Died".
