No attack , rarely a single coyote, usually 2 to 3. That particular coyote in the blurry pic has always been really curious about my dog.. they just sit and stare at each other for 20 minutes or so. We have had a few charge at us about 3 or 4 different times.

Someone has been putting out snare wire trap’s lately.. same area people let dogs run.. I’ve been removing them as often as I can.. I understand why people want coyotes gone, but, they aren’t going about it the right way. If my dog, or any dog got caught in that snare I’d be slightly enraged. Do people think about the end game ? What was this person thinking? They going to shoot the coyote once it’s snared , no, they are going to leave it to suffer. Idiots ( it’s also a major felony to use those traps here ).

Sam - My pup.. decent sized woofer - 80 pounds exactly. I think most of the local Coyotes are 20-45 pounds max.. they tend to run from my dog. There are a few exceptions though.. I’ll try to get some pics of the big coyotes tonight.

Tells me someone doesn't have an idea what they are doing. Certainly did not think their actions through.
At 80 pounds Sam is not tiny. One on one he wins. Two or more against him, not good until you get into the mix. Hope it never gets to that.

True. I’ve watched them hunt in small groups.. they bait and flank. Cats and small dogs don’t stand a chance. I’ve had luck deterring them with 800 lumen flashlights on strobe mode.. they hate it.

Always have something with a little reach on night hikes / walks.

My last Dog ( in the avatar pic ) made it his life’s goal to rid the neighborhood of coyotes - I did not encourage it, he was straight from the streets and hated coyotes.. got rid of at least 4-5 of them.. the neighbors with cats, chickens and children were happy.

I understand having something on hand. I bet the light does send them away.
He look all business. Something caused the hate he had for them.
