Knives and EASY money!!

OK, so where can I buy a CNC. I want to make easy money!!! Is there a way I can have the machine send it straight to the post office? Once it is boxed up, having to drive to the post office can really be a drag.

Oh, I see what I've been doing wrong, the green button! I've been pressing the red button...

Seriously, you need to do a WIP with that thing.

Wow!!! You guys make it look so easy!:D
How long does it take to program for the bubble wrap?;)

Look you gents, I gave you a huge window into our secrets...now go out and get that money!!!

The bubble wrapping is a new feature...it used to be shrink wrapping, but we found that does not protect the knives very well in shipping. As for the shipping direct from the cnc...thats an expensive upgrade we can't afford right now.... :( ....one day, oh yes, one day!!!

How much is that machine? My Grizzley wont do that.

Mills in that class go used around 15-25, though there are probably some screaming deals out there right now.

You're going to be hard pressed to get a good mill without any problems that can deliver solid performance under 15K. A used Fadal toolroom mill is probably a pretty good choice for a knife maker.

I really like the little Haas mills personally (different brand, same "league"). They also have a "tool room" type mill in the same range. For a little more money, and trading off some X axis travel, you can get their smallest production mill, the Haas mini mill, that delivers production mill accuracy and surface finish with full enclosure, high volume flood coolant and an automatic tool changer in a small package. It weighs about 3,500 lbs. The ATC is very nice to have. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying a knifemaker needs a production type mill. Just that I personally like them.

They have a very bad ass mill drill coming into production for under 50K that will make the old mini obsolete for a lot of industrial folks - so I expect to see some deals on used mini mills soon which will be great for the little guys. Right now I have seen them with low hours around 20-25.

Kind of makes you look at the $1,000 price tag of a KMG a little differently eh?

A HAAS 4 axis is $40,000 with absolutely zero tooling. Another $5,000 and you'll have basic tooling, another $2,000 for the vices. So for the bargain price of $47,000 you to can make easy money lol.

I dont care about making money with knives - to me atleast, its a hobby, its a passion for the highest quality and performing blades possible. The fact other people bujy them off me is a bonus not a requirement. Stuff commercialism!

my parents gave me a nice NCAC set up but it didn't come with much tooling... it's a 1972 model so it doesn't produce such slick work as the one in the video but the price was right...

NCAC = non computer analog control

great vid!

Wow. Is it tape? That thing should be in a museum.

Does it have the automatic bubble wrap, box and ship awesome knives function? I think that is a G80 something... I know those early machines didn't have the all function "green button", I think they were black back then...

Isn't it a marvelous thing when you can support yourself and your family by doing what you LOVE and have TALENT for and other people reward you with LOTS OF THEIR MONEY??? It is for me....I am a lucky girl, and thank God everyday for the gifts God gave my man.
