Spectacular Sunday Carry: my two favorite collectibles, knives and fountain pens. Both of these beauties were about $800 each. I need to find a cheaper hobby!

Custom Olamic Wayfarer Kevlar Sheepscliffe and my Celluloid Burlwood Omas with rose gold. Olamic and Omas...a great combo.

EyeDog,

Same O' sad story; I have champagne sensibilities on a sodiepop pocket book.

The two knives are very recent EDC : Spyderco Manix CPM-S110V & Cricket
The guys here would rather I shut up about my Manix already so moving on to . . .

The first pen is my favorite a Cross """ Titanium """ (how the heck they came up with that finish name I have no idea. It is very obviously more smoked chrome or at a stretch "gun metal"). When I went in to buy it my sole mission was to buy the pen that wrote / drew the best. Had the best nib action. I already had many fountain pens but none that really did it for me. I would have probably went $200 tops but as it turned out the one that wrote the best was "on sale". They had a Cross pen sale going. Turns out they were seconds and they didn't say that. The finish on mine is flawed. Super fine longitudinal lines in the finish on the back side. Can hardly tell. Anyway she writes SO WELL and I have had it for going on twenty five years or more.

The second pen is EDC at work. Schrade tactical (obviously). I didn't try before I bought; just ordered it on reviews. I am very pleased. It works and it is durable enough for a mechanic to carry. I have since learned to refill the throw away cartridges with an oiler bottle (basically a hyper dermic needle) and that works very well over the plunger adapter cartridges. Oh and the Schrade tactical goes for practically the price of shipping . . . I think I paid under $20. Not saying I don't love great pens but I just never come into contact with them and have never really pursued learning about the great ones.

Sorry to be such a DUD but I want to contribute to your highly civilized thread in any case.
Thanks for starting it.

That pen is gorgeous. Do they make a ballpoint version? Lol.

I've tried to catch the fountain bug, but just can't bring myself to use them.

It checks so many boxes: ink choices, fine materials and craftsmanship, various styles and sizes, pride in ownership... almost all the things I love about knives, but I just can't get past the loss of convenience over a ballpoint.

Hey @Wowbagger .... That Cross Titanium is a nice pen. And I've got a few Spydie knives. Nice set up you have.

Hi @Pardon I have some really cool ball point points. I also love any thing that's box elder burl. Here's a William Henery ball point with a few friends.

Pardon,

The trick to getting into fountain pens is developing a need to see that nice wet ink on the page as you write or draw. Once the taste for it has been developed, it is like drinking real coffee, it is hard to go without for long.

Makes one slow down and be in the moment . . just be sure you make a moment for yourself that is worth being in. :)

For my "backup EDC geeeter done I carry a ball point that is so great performing that it has to be experienced to be believed : BIC Velocity in black.

And practically free by the box full. I buy a box occassional for The Chef and snag one when I'm out of ammo.

I'll play. My ZT560 which I use to cut the cheese with at the office. At least I haven't been hauled to HR yet for someone complaining about it. And my Montblanc fountain pen.

I got into fountain pens when I did a case study on premium fountain pens for MBA school. I bought one as an homage to the marketing geniuses that would market a fountain pen that costs maybe $25 to make and sell it for at least $500.

I decided to use a fountain pen at work as when I took notes with a regular pen and go back and try to read what I wrote and could not for the life of me make out what the squiggles were. So I use a fountain pen to slow down my writing and improve my chances of being able to read what I wrote.

Looks like I need to get an updated picture with my Laconico folder instead of the sebbie...this is eight or nine years old but it's the only picture I have handy. I took one picture to cover all the bases. The pen is a Pelikan M600.

Both of these were gifts so it makes them more special to me. Pilot vanishing point with a medium nib and ZT 452cf.

Fantastic thread idea, EyeDog!

I need to get some photos together of my pairings. Great photos, pens, and knives, everyone!

Ya mean you can get sent to HR just for cutting the cheese at the office? Dang, I guess I'll have to be more discreet. :D

Just some simple workhorses today; the tried and true delica 4 and the preppy with the eye dropper mod.

Some items from my deskscape, M800 for signing checks (which is the only writing I do these days), Praetorian T for opening boxes and letters (and annoying sheeple).
