Just a quick thought regarding the LED lights vs a conventional bulb.
I've been in a situation recently where I had a Petzl, with adjustable beam and my buddy just had an LED Petzl.
We had to use my light, focused to the narrowest possible beam to see the cairns we were looking for while descending some nastly ledges in the dark. His LED was useless for route finding. Once in the bush, his was almost as good as mine - in fact better, because after 3 hours of constant use, his batteries didn't start to die...
Make your own conclusions, but if we wouldn't have had my adjustable beam, we would have had to spend much more time descending....
