Knives at Dsiney World Orlando

I know that this is a pretty old thread that I'm bumping, but I thought the info might be helpful to someone. I was concerned about carrying a knife before my family and I went to Disney World, but I never really got complete clarity on the subject. I'm sure this is not always the case... but here is my experience.

I just got back Saturday, so this is fresh on my brain. Each park has a bag check station where a disney security guard looks briefly through your bag. I'm not sure what they're looking for, but every one I went through during the week was very brief. In fact, I probably could have had a pistol in a zipper pouch or something in my backpack and they never would have noticed. (Not that I'm telling you to try.) In fact, I never saw anyone get pulled aside for something they had in their bag. There are definitely no metal detectors of any kind, and no one was noticeably looking at anything else with any suspicion. I planned to carry a mid-sized SAK just to be on the safe side. My first day, I carried and leatherman micra in my front pocket, because I couldn't find my SAK when we were leaving the resort room. I had no problems. Later, I realized my SAK was in my backpack the whole day, they just never saw it at the bag check station. My second day, I decided to carry my PM2 in my front pocket. No issues. The rest of the week, I carried a PM2 or a Military in my cargo pocket and a Candiru in my front pocket. No issues. I used my knives to cut food, cut straws for the kids, open toy and food packaging... pretty much whatever I wanted, but I was somewhat discrete about it. I think you'll be ok carrying whatever knife you want as long as you're not wielding it around throughout the day.

I took this just for fun.

The limit is "under 3 inches" at California's Disneyland -I've been stopped before. The guy literally exclaimed "Holy Sh*t!" when he saw the Ka Bar folder I had at the time (I think the blade was 4"). Now I keep my EDC's under 3". Can't imagine Florida being worse ... Just to be safe, under 3" and non-locking.

I remember when I was a kid, they sold pocket knives at Disneyland!
