Can anyone tell me what the deal is with Knives Emporium? I just bought and paid for 3 auto knives from them last week, now I can't get any kind of a response from them and haven't seen the knives in 10 days. Are they still in business or what?

They were once a paid dealer here. Now they are not. Use the search engine and a certain debacle should pop up. It's a fair insight to that company's character.

Sorry about your knives I hope they eventually come in. I think in Tech Support (or somewhere) there is a list of paying BladeForums dealers. You shouldn't have a problem with any of them.

Okay I see they apparently ran scam contest. I wish I had known that before I sent them $400 via paypal but I didn't. Now I'd like to know if anyone knows if they are still in business or out of business?

Not to be offensive or insensitive, but we don't know if they are in business nor do we care. They left a pretty bad stain on their "reputation" and a bitter taste in the mouthes of many. If you are concerned, contact Paypal and take the necessary steps and get your money returned to you. Aside from that, we can't do much here to help things out, everything has been covered in the threads above. Shopping around and researching sellers is always the best way to avoid problematic transactions. Companies that are run in the manner in which this one was or is, speaks volumes of why researching is important.

Thanks RevDevil! I don't find your post offensive or insensitive. All I know is after making the purchase and not receiving the knives when they said I should, I did start to research and this forum seemed to have the only info on the web I could find. So the chances of someone here knowing something seemed to be better than anywhere else. I'm not asking for anyone to help, I'm just asking for information.

It seems like since your forum were the ones that had them as a sponsor and outed them in their deception you would care whether they were in business or not. That's just my humble opinion.

We didn't ask them to be here. They paid for a membership to be here the same as everyone else.
When they were caught in their deception, they were removed for the good of the community here.
We have no control over whether they are in business or not.
As long as they are not taking advantage of our membership, which they cannot. That is the end of our concern.

Get a hold of Paypal and cancel the transaction. It would also be a good idea to make sure you use a credit card or debit card for purchases that way you have the bank to back you up if something goes wrong.

Okay I received a full credit from them today via paypal so that's all good. So now I just need to figure out the best place to purchase these knives from. Anyone want to make some suggestions? I'm looking for the Gerber 06 Auto Tanto.

Stuff like this is why I research this forum for info (good or bad) on anyone new that I decide to do business with. Being able to do that, and getting great results from questions and prior issues members have had makes the Gold membership more than worth buying. It is a means of paying the site back for all the money that they have saved me by helping me avoid buying from dubious places and/or people.

When this membership expires, I'll likely up it to Platinum.

The links in my sigline are ther for a reason, not just the awesome eye candy they provide. ;)

Cajun,

Not to be insensitive myself but you write to revdevil "should It seems like since your forum were the ones that had them as a sponsor and outed them in their deception you would care whether they were in business or not. That's just my humble opinion".... really?

You are upset that a moderator or forum that you are only a "registered member" of should do your homework for you?? Beggars cannot, and should not be choosers....

Glad you got your cash back

Paw you are way off here! You've read things into my post that don't exist. First off I'm not upset at anyone. I wasn't even really upset with the people I sent my money to. I was just trying to get as much info as I could so I could make a decision about how to handle it. Second I wasn't begging for anything, I simply asked for information because I didn't have that info. That's what most forums are typically are most useful for.

Now here's what I meant in my sentence you quoted. I own a business, my front door is open to who ever wants to walk through it. If I have people in my office and someone walks through my door and shoots some one I feel some responsibility because I have an open invitation to everyone to walk in to do business with me. Do I take the full blame for everyone who gets shot? No! The guy who did the shooting gets the blame for that. But I did share some responsibility in bringing them all together and not protecting them. What is my cost? Just to offer what ever help I can. That's all I was asking for the forum. Just for nice, honest, humble information from people who may have had some previous dealings with the company I was asking about. If I would give all the information I possibly could about the shooter in my office and even gather information if I could to help him get caught.

Not everyone wants to help out or take responsibility for things they may some involvement in and that's okay, but I'm not one of those kinds of people.

Again, BladeForums concern whether they are in business or not ends with their interaction/membership here.
We are not involved in that company. What they do away from this site is not our concern beyond being a place for members to post about their interaction with that company in this forum.

It is the buyers responsibility to do their own research before purchasing.

We're not either. Karda told you all we know in the first reply to this thread. If we could've helped further we would have.

We have not heard from these people since the ban, and we had no idea they were still taking money.

Glad to hear you have your money back.

Okay guys I know it's my responsibility to do my own research before buying. Although I never advocated that responsibility to anyone on this forum. I don't expect anyone on this forum to make up for my loss (even though I didn't lose anything). I'm sorry I was assuming there may be more than 6-8 people who may have more recent dealings with Knives Emporium and may see my post, who may be willing to give me some answers. I guess I'll have to assume since you few who have responded are so insistent that no one knows anything about them that I was wrong in assuming this.

I do now have more information on the company so I'll try to keep a look out for someone on the forum who inquires about them and try to help them out if I can. Maybe if you happen to see another post from someone inquiring you can let them know that I would be happy to clue them in. Or maybe not.

This forum in particular serves that very purpose. The collection of threads contained here are testaments to the Good, Bad, and the Ugly (apltly named). This forum is visible to the general public with no need to register at no cost. As a moderator here, I see a lot of people that try and save as much money on items as possible. It is understandable when money is tight all around and things look shaky for most. We encourage people to make their purchases from stores with caution, and to report good or bad experiences accordingly. Most won't but some do. Sometimes the extra few dollars someone saves on an item ends up costing them many times that in stress return shipping, and overall poor quality experiences.

The company mentioned in your thread did some extremely bad things from a business perspective. They had a representative (not even a dealer at that point) selling knives with a fixed price for much less than the price paid dealers were required to adhere to. We attempted a friendly, "sloow it down or buy a dealer membership" approach, which was received with an air of righteous indignation and persistently believing "they" were doing "us" a favor by having them here at all. Then the same guy with a new name for the store front conducted the "rigged" giveaway where a 3rd and 4th account were discovered by a simple IP check and some other sustained efforts.

They were banned when they had run out of excuses as to why they behaved the way they did. Most if not all of the people registering for the impossible giveaway were incensed and wanted nothing more to do with that outfit. Not much more to say really, as that is it in a nutshell.

I pretty well gathered all of that after I was basically told to go search for the information.

That's not all there is to the story as people can still go to this company, place an order and send them their money. Apparently you prefer not to discuss any of this so I'll save it for someone who wants to know and asks.
