About a month ago I noticed that Knives Emporium (http://www.knivesemporium.com/) was selling one of my favourite knives - the Elishewitz Scout flipper - great feel, even better action - with a beautiful presentation Birdseye maple scale. I HAD to have it.
I emailed to discuss the possibility of a trade for the knife as I had some higher end (to me) NIB customs I am not really using. George, one of what I assume to be a very small staff, emailed me quickly and politely told me that, unfortunately, they do not do trades but if I was interested in buying it please let them know. So I sat and talked about it, and thought about it, and sold some knives.....and emailed them that I was ready to buy, and how do we proceed.
As with my earlier communications George got back to me promptly and provided me with a price (to be paid via a PP invoice) that would cover the knife, fees, insurance, and priority shipping - and I can say that it was extremely competitive so much so that I jumped in with both feet. The invoice was sent and paid and then I noticed I sent them the wrong shipping address. This meant that they would have to go directly to the post office to mail the knife since they could not just use the PayPal shipping label function. George emailed my right away to let me know there would be a one day delay in mailing the knife and that would he would send me the DC# as soon as it was mailed so at about 9.00 pm Friday the waiting began. Monday morning I got the DC#, as promised and 2 days later it was delivered to my place in California, and at the moment I am in Canada so more waiting for me.
The knife finally arrived last week and I can tell you this, it is beautiful, far more so than the pictures on the site which do not do such a beautiful knife justice.
From my first contact to any current contacts (and yes there have been more cause they do have some beautiful knives) George and the boys at Knives Emporium have been nothing if not PERFECT. They are polite, courteous, and helpful, and I get the sense that they truly love what they are doing. I have dealt with a number of purveyors of Fine Knives and I can tell you without reservations that K.E. ranks up there with the very best period.
In my, very humble, opinion I think theyre a small business trying to get into the knife game because it is a passion that share with the likes of us bladeheads and if things keep going the way they are they will be a very well know dealer before long and they have my business for life.
Thanks again George for all the help, advice and patience, and I look forward to working with you again on the next grail!!!!!
