Knives for home repair/landscaping/a bit of everything.

and popping of the paint can lid, I'd like to know what you would have at the ready.
Since it's a year and a half since this thread was started, you've probably finished your project. In the future, I recommend that you pick one of these up for free and spare your knife.

My Leatherman Supertool saw has got me through my entire remodel! It is a tremendous tool that fits a lot of “oh shit!” Moments.

When I did my bathroom I did the whole thing with a Buck 55. Did everything from cutting and scraping out all the old caulking from the tub and wall joints. Was actually a great little knife. I also would consider a Victorinox farmer or electrician. Or a leatherman.

A proven beater for the tasks you mentioned is a RaT 2 with D2 steel. That said I EDC a Spyderco Gayle Bradley, but much high grade (and price) than the Rat 1.

Tantos are underestimated as utility knives. I did a lot of work, mostly demo but some repair and construction, with a Benchmade Barrage axis assist half-serrated tanto. It worked great as a chisel, box cutter, drywall knife, plane, saw, etc etc.

I snapped the blade on my Leatherman Wave trying to cut the shipping strap on a pallet of doors. The plastic strap was tight so I gave my Leatherman a twist for leverage and watched as half the blade hit the floor. Stupid part is I had tin snips in my tool belt on the other side of the garage but was too lazy to go get them. Lesson learned. There's the right tool for the job and most times it's not a $100+ Leatherman or folding knife.

Even Leatherman's have "oh shit " moments where they need to call in a tougher tool

Only bright side was it was a Leatherman and I took it back to where I bought it, as the purchase was on my member file, and they replaced it right then and there

This won't be a popular answer, but when I'm doing home renovation: mostly, it's a folding utility knife. I will often carry a Spyderco Manix in a nice steel (S110V or SPY27) but the ute knife gets most of the work. I've been using Outdoor Edge, Excel, and Milwaukee utes.

Like previous posters said, I also carry screwdrivers, a prybar, Knipex pliers, and other purpose-made tools. If you want to get work done right, the first time, then leave the Leatherman in the drawer. The trick is to buckle on a small, slim, handy tool belt with a variety of most-needed tools. Alternately, I've been wearing a denim vest with pockets I can stuff with most needed tools...and tape...and screws...and...

I always was doing different construction work inside and outside of my house by myself, maybe with little help from specialized professionals, like plumbers and electricians, but for the most time I did all by myself, in times of lockdown I managed to renovate all my house from inside, but for making some design and landscape work I prefered to approach the proffesional alndscaping and design company from my area https://jscustomlandscaping.com. They even provided their services in times of locdown and their designer guy was very experienced and brind different good ideas about my house look, I definetly suggest you before finishing your work on ladnscape approach this company.
