Knives for kids success- and a hospital visit!

Cute kid! Both my daughter's have their own knives, and both have had minor cuts. And both of them took responsibility for the accident, learned from it and have become responsible knife owners. Never do i hear "can someone cut this for me" in my house.:D

You did catch the mistakes in the photo .
1.Open knife , not being held firmly
2.Doll in other hand
3.Watching camera

Three strikes !
Watch the knife especially the edge hold firmly.
Ditch the doll it's a distraction.
Don't mug for the camera, watch the knife.

Glad she's ok. Would you possibly have any pics of the finger when the bandages come off, so we could see how she cut herself? I took my finger clear off with hedge clippers years ago as a kid.

Zero

First time my Dad ever let me hold a pocket knife, I lasted all of about 60 seconds before I accidentally closed it on my finger. It's almost a universal truth that a kid's first knife will draw blood within the first 24 hours, if not sooner. Best to just have the bandages ready and hope it's not too bad. Glad she's okay.

A couple years ago, my wife gave me a really nice modern folder for my birthday. Next time I was over at my parents' house, I pulled it out to show Dad. After a minute, I see his hand go past the tip, and then he immediately sticks his ring finger in his mouth. I said, "Really? Did you really just cut yourself on my brand new knife? Let's see, what would you have said about that when I was a kid?" He said, "Shut up, boy, and get me a Band-Aid."

You have every right to be proud of your little one. She handled that better than many of the patients I've seen over the years, most being active duty soldiers.
