Old sk00l r00lz... Any other black powder shooters out there?

Lyman Great Plains Hunter flintlock in .50 with powder horn, Cold Steel Trail Hawk and Cold Steel Rifleman's Hawk (stripped), Grohmann Mini Skinner, Grohmann Original Design No. 1:

The Lyman is basically a Hawken plains rifle, albeit not based on any one specific historical protoype, and with modern internals in the lock. The 'hawks are Cold Steel products that I've stripped and re-hafted. The Grohmanns are made in Pictou, Nova Scotia, and are great little knives. The Mini Skinner makes a great patch knife, and the No. 1 is the classic Canadian hunting knife.

well, I keep score for the guys over here but don't shoot myself. Do compete in the knife and hawk part all the time. Those axes caught my eye in your pic. Great picture by the way!

Rdelliott,
Nice muzzle loader. I really love them. The riflemans hawk looks better with the paint off of it. I have one with the hammer poll cut off and I refinished the haft. The Grohmanns are great knives, I have a #4 and I'm thinking of getting a folder, The one that looks like the #1.

Hi Randy: thanks. I really get a kick out of the muzzle-loading thing.

You should post some pix of your modded CS RH (and that Grohmann folder, once you get it). I'd be interested in seeing what it looks like. How did cutting off the poll affect its throwing?

Don't want to hijack this tread, I haven't tried throwing it yet. I'll let you know about the folder. The only thing stopping me from having one right now is the price! they must be well made for 180$. I think your out east? I'd be interested in knowing the price near you. Send me an email my address is listed on my profile.

And as we all know....."gun control".......putting all the round in the 10 ring...

....

Ruger New Vaquero in .357 with an Alphonso "Clint" rig (nice setup)....Cold Steel UWK (great for the $$$).....Boker Kalashnikov (way over-priced, I'd never buy another or recommend it).......Surefire Executive 2Ed lite (compact and powerful).

Here is my every day carry Springfield XD-9 with a few of my knives.

The XD has TruGlo TFO night sights, Don's Guide Rod with 22# spring, a trigger job by Rich @ Canyon Creek.

The slide finish is also by Rich @ Canyon Creek, he calls it a "Fusion" finish. He uses GunKote to refinish the slide and then polishes the sides of the slide leaving the top, front, back and recesses black and then coats the whole slide in GunKote Clear.

Here is his web site http://www.canyoncreekcustom.com/

You can also check out http://www.hs2000talk.com/ lots of people there have had Rich do work on their XDs.
