knives I'm contemplating for edc

Moral of this story, don't loan knives to anybody!
You got that right, I'm just happy it wasn't a more expensive knife lol. A few years ago I lent my coworker my s30v blur and he was trying to cut through metal straps that were holding a commercial dishwasher to a pallet -.-

To everyone curious about the condition of my delica 4, well here it is! It was hard to capture the uneven grind of the blade, but I tried hah

IMO, it'll still live just fine, might be lacking some blade width though. I'd add a sharpening choil and reprofile the edge and sharpen it right up.

What do you sharpen with?

Sounds like your coworkers should only be allowed to carry plastic knives. Look at the gb2

That Delica can go for another 10 years without major problems IMO. The lighting exaggerates the blade condition obviously. 15 minutes sharpening shall make it one of the good looking Delics in its dedicated thread in GKD.

The spyderco sharpener. The only problem is I don't really have the time to get the experience of reprofiling and edge. I can sharpen a dull edge. I tried but I'm just not good enough yet and would feel more comfortable sending it off in which case I'd rather just get a new blade and save the delica for my beater

Honestly I'm just not experienced enough to sharpen it myself. It's really uneven and idk where to even start to be honest. I've spent maybe 30 minutes using the spyderco sharpener

I say if you want another knife buy one.

Maybe buy some diamond stones for your Sharpmaker and use your Delica as practice for sharpening when time permits. There is life left in that blade.

The Native 5 may be a viable replacement for your Delica.

Sharpening requires patience, you'll get there.

Honestly I have had zero luck with the sharpmaker diamond rods. The knife just seemsnto bounce off the high points of the grit.

If I had to choose between the Sr11 and 801 I'd choose the 801. If you are lookingnfor a work knife I have to recommend the Gayle Bradley 2 from Spyderco. Those GBs are just the best for that job.

Yeah, the sharpmaker with stock rods might be time consuming. Like Joe said, use it for practice at the very least.

Looks easy enough to repair but a decent amount of material will need to be removed to make that flat again. See if there is anyone in your area to fix that on a grinder or guided system. Should not be more than 15-30$
