Knives in a gun shop

Mission's line of non-mag blades and mine probes. Explosive Ordnance School is at Eglin.

Spyderco and Benchmade come to mind -- the Cold Steel Voyager line is one of my favorites. I'd stay away from CRKT as they're getting increasingly into junk steel for their blades. Judiciously chosen they're okay, but many models now have 420j2 as a blade material. They may have a higher profit margin as a result, but I'm turned off by their use of inferior steels.

I'd definately stock benchmade, buck, kershaw and CRKT. They're all good brands with a good product.

I agree with the Spyderco, Benchmade, SAK, CRKT suggestions. Might also consider Camillus for their CUDA line which seems to be popular with the enlisted guys.

I get to the Redneck Riviera (no offense, love the Panhandle) on occasion so let me know your address when you get setup.

Slatts...No offense taken. I`ve been here most of my life and believe me, we have our fair share of rednecks...Oh wait...I am one! LOL. I`ll post the address when I get set up. Thanks for the suggestions.

Did this store ever open? On my way to Ft. Walton, Fl right now and looking for a good knife shop to take the boys to.

definitely don't forget the multi tool crowd. most guys who deploy say their multi tool was infinitely more useful than a plain pocket knife.

you'll also want plenty of inexpensive lines for that military budget, unfortunately even the cheap spyderco lines fall in the too expensive category in an actual shop with the mark up.

I doubt you'll get an answer. This thread is 7 years old and the OP hasn't been on BF in over 6 years.

I don't know about his store but just north of Ft. Walton is a town called Crestview and the local Ace Hardware store has a good collection of traditional pocket knives, they have a wall about 20 foot long with nothing but knives. I think the store is actually called Crestview Wholesale. ****if this breaks any rules please remove******

Cool, thanks. I was googling and this is the first link it brought up. Like to help out fellow members if possible.

I would say benchmade, spyderco and kershaw/ZT . But then again I keep seeing more posts lately with restrictions of what military people can carry. I would start out with benchmade or go through a distributor so you can cherry pick which models and brands you want to carry with no minimum buy in. Only issue with that is you may have a hard time competing on price. But that way you could at least have some things in the store and see what people ask for. All the recommendations in the world wont help unless they sell. And this can really vary from one area to the next. Many of the gun shops around me dont even carry knives. I would ask your clientele what they would like to see in your shop. But makes sure these are "paying" customers and not just window shoppers flooding your shop with inventory that you wont move.

The train left the station some years back gents. Look at the date on the original post and the last prenecro bump.

Leave the cheap crap alone they have a PX for that.
I'd say Spyderco, Kershaw/ZT would be my first two choices

The more people that post after a thread has been brought back from years ago, the funnier it gets! :D

I bet there will be at least one more poster after me with suggestions. :victorious:

KA-BAR/Becker, Benchmade, ESEE, CRKT and ZTs. Spydercos aren't my favourite knives, but most of my Army buddies swore by them.

I should pay attention to dates closer.

I'll play lol. Whatever you do don't sell @ retail prices. I thought this thread was going to be about that. Gun stores selling nice knives always sell at MRSP and real knife guys know the difference and most likely won't buy from the gun store. I have asked many gun store owners about their lack of knife selection and they say they cannot move them and give up trying. No one could at full MRSP. You have to do your research and be competitive with online retailers.

You won that bet.
Its especially funny when the OP hasn't logged into BF in over 6 years, and people don't even notice the post right above them:D

I noticed, I just had something to say and said it regardless of who is reading:D
