Knives in movies

the fact is movies are
a product of the imagination
entertainment in this form
is the highest form of escapism for the masses
as a consequence
any knife which one sees on the silver screen
was placed there
purely for dramatic effect.
so that a bad guy in a movie
would always have a menacing looking knife.
or likewise for a hero,
who uses his intellectual capabilities more
would be holding a multitool or the likes.
i suppose there are people in the props department of any film production crew
who would have enough product knowledge
on what would evoke
the required emotional response for a required film's scene.

....I think that makes sense :D I had a hard time understanding that but if you mean that the knife is there just for looks that fit their use...you're right. They don't actually use the knives.

Zombie shows would be the place for product placement because everyone's looking for a knife or machete that'll do in a zombie...and it doesn't actially have to work cause the show ain't real and neither are the zombies :D

I think most of the time though, it's aesthetic that they choose the knives.

Not McGyver, he really used the hell out of his Swiss Army Knife!

That is obvious knives are there just for look and not for any practical reasons.

In most movies they are used for making scene more scary.

In season 7 of Dexter some busses are used, I believe a boss jack, and a black paper with satin natural outlaw:D

Yeah, I think most of the time they go for looks. For the fear factor. I especially like it when you pull out a knife and lick the blade. I try to do that whenever possible.
