Some interesting replies.
Being part time I've not really felt a rush to get any one job completed so I've taken my time and experimented here and there. In recent months I've been becoming more serious about knife making and making more knives than I have in the past. I've definitely gotten faster and better, especially over the past year. Last year I would say I made around 50 knives and will probably make around 70 this year.
Interesting to see where people's balance points are in making knives.
Definitely the types of knives made and materials used are huge factors in the time required to make a knife. Forging as opposed to straight stock removal are not really comparable time wise as the starting points are very different.
Anyhow thanks for your replies,
Sean
