Some of you guys and gals probably will 'Vote' a knife off the island once you decided it wasn't worthy to stick around, nothing really wrong with it, just didn't make the cut and was 'voted' off the island...I can't imagine how many rafts of knives have left my island over the years ;) but it is a LOT.

Here are a few that have some staying power, so far, and this doesn't include my Swiss Army knives as those I view more as tools than cutting instruments, but they do and can cut quite well. And there are a few more that won't see a raft but I didn't get them into the photo.

Around the block they are,
on the far left my little gem of a folder, a Baby Rounder by Jerry Halfrich,
The Civivi Stormridge fixed blade, what a capable knife, handle is thin as is the blade and at first I didn't think I would like the handle scales being so thin, but it works great and cuts great too.
Laramie Jackson small fixed blade, this was up on deck to go because the handle is a little short for me, but the guard and blade have won me over, exceptional cutter and very well made knife.
the Blue handled one is a Knaf Lander 2, the detent works great and the blade swings closed drop shutty, the blade arrived very sharp and I haven't had the need to sharpen it up yet, I think they did a very good job with the heat treatment on this S35vn
Jigged Bone handled Schatt & Morgan, which I just used this morning, this was a gift from a friend waynorth waynorth when we last met at the GEC rendezvous, thanks again Charlie, the blades have broken in and open much better now.
Middle green handled Benchmade Taggedout with S45vn, an exceptional cutter, one thing I was doing wrong trying to open it was to use the thumb stud pushing outward instead of directly forward, BIG difference and fortunately I figured it out ;)
Orange handled Manly City folder, 14c28n blade razor thin and just cuts...anything...with ease, this is my go to if I don't want to muck up any of the fancier knives I own.

So, that's my current list of those most likely to stay on the island, it's a lot I reckon, but it's a good group and so far they get along famously ;)

My first self-modded knife, Franken-Native 5 with magnacut blade and Fluted Ti scales.

Hossom Au Eli in crosscut blue mammoth tusk and CPK DEK1 with double hollow ground blade and swedge (I also have a Boot Dagger incoming which will surely join this group).

Every knife in my accumulation has been used and is therefore a keeper. However, not all of them would I replace with the same knife. Some because finding that version of the knife would be difficult and/or cost prohibitive. I don't think I'd be able to find replacements for either of my Biryukov's, finding a Manix 2 CTS-XHP would be difficult and expensive, as would a ZT 0095BLKS90.

My desire to reduce the number of knives is always blocked by my keepers. I've got knives I've rarely, if ever, carried that I don't even consider sending away, as well as current and past users. The reasons behind those decisions may vary widely, and it is likely that they wouldn't make sense to a lot of people.

Maybe if I'm still on the island myself in 10 years I'll be able to make the tough cuts

Somehow I feel like the cast on Gilligan’s Island, never really quite getting off the island, only sometimes successful thinning the herd. Just staying there. Let me get my Siegle knife to cut up some coconuts or build my frame to hold my hammock. Still not a bad thought as long as I have a drink in my hand.

I have many more, but for various personal reasons, these are the ones that will never leave.

"Time passes" for those that ever played the text game Zork may recall that short phrase :) from the first post these are the ones that remain now

and today's collection, not including a couple of fixed blades out in my go bag in the car and not including all my SAK's

of that grouping a few are every day carries, where the rest get cameo appearances from time to time, but also can be getting close to being voted off the island...if they are not good little boys and girls.

If I ever decide to move my 0095BLKS90, you will get first swing ☺️ and yea, I have yet to see another come up on the exchange

Great thread. I've learnt almost nothing is safe. I am constantly turning over blades because I want my collection to be small and only include favourites.

The only absolute confidence I have in something never leaving is this guy
