Knives 'n lights

You guys should try a DeLight. It uses 3, "AAA" batteries, has a very bright focusable beam, is small, and is on sale until Dec. 8 for $35.00 shipped. They are not waterproof, and are not weapon-mountable. They are just a really bright light that is all most people would ever need. See my web site: www.billdeshivs.com

I managed to get my hands on a Fenix TK10 a few years back, and it hasn't left my side since. Great size, light, battery life, and waterproof to boot! The only couple problems is that the CR123 batters costs too much, and that you can't really stand the flashlight by itself.

I wish they made more Knife with detachable light combos. I really like the concept of my tool logic SL Pro, but the blade is kind of crappy in my opinion. And GO flint firestarter attachment!

I'm very pleased with my Maratac AAA keychain light. 62, 18, and 1.5 lumen settings for less than $30 shipped. Has a little clip too.

The big brother looks nice as well, up to almost 200 lumens for about $40.

+1 on the novatac 120t

I treated myself to one a few months back and I love it. It was the first led light I ever bought and Ive since got a Fenix P3D which is great also. I have the novatac on my keychain with a release and its super handy. Im sold on the new school lights, amazingly bright with the potential for long burn times on lower settings. That novatac says it burns for 240 hours on the low setting which is about as bright as my standard 2 AA mag light. Thats like landmark in portable lighting to me. Alas i spend too much on knives to be buyin flashlights all the time.

You can get those cr123a batteries on line for a buck a piece for the "not major brand" ones which have worked just as well as any spendy ones Ive used.

I EDC a Fenix PD20. Not a high end light, but a great one for the price. Just in case anyone wants to ask, the knife with holes in it is some crap Taiwan-made knife I carried for my Halloween costume:

size vs. performance, and technology; understood...but it also matter what you're gonna use these lights for...if weight and space is an issue, yeah these little firecracker are the bomb...

since i don't have a profession where size/weight is an issue regarding a flashlight, don't need to edc a flashlight, and i don't have a thing for getting the latest and greatest in gadgets (thank goodness)....

...i am happy with my (upgraded) maglites!!!

In the end, this is what counts!!:thumbup: Also, glad to see others suffer the same disease as I , and to see that some have developed an immunity to the disease. This disease could be worse than H1N1!:D

Once in a while. Usually what I do is I buy one cheap knife for every expensive knife I buy. So I get 2 knives while paying around the retail of the first one.

Lights are my new expensive obsession. I never even saw it coming.

Looking for at least a 200 lumen AAA or AA flashlight. I have dozens of rechargeable AA's and AAA batteries, so I don't want to go with a CR123A flashlight.

Anyone know of a good, very bright LED light that doesn't use CR 123s?

i've got the led lenser t7, takes 4 AA and is compact enough for the pocket, and has 200 lumens, very bright and great 1 handed focusing!!

I just picked up a Fenix TK40 - 630 lumens in a package smaller than a 2D maglite.

My upgraded maglite is relegated to glovebox duty now

I have:

  • Streamlight Scorpion - 1st "good" light
  • Gander 3 Cell CR123 - probably brighter than the Scorpion
  • Surefire A2 Aviator - the LED/bulb combo is the way to go
  • Surfire E2e - a little smaller than the A2, but not as useful (bulb only)
  • Maglite 3 D cell - very bright but very bid and heavy
  • Fenix P1d - on order (wanted a very small, high powered light)

I don't collect lights, and for myself only see them as tools(thank goodness, lol).

I have several, but my Surefire L1 has been getting used much more than any knife I have. I've used it Every night(I live in woods) and most mornings for over a year, and would feel lost without it.

I also use this little Streamlight a good bit, since its always with me.
